DAIL: 14 May 1925; CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. – KERRY CREAMERY COMPENSATION AWARDS.
SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH- asked the Minister for Finance if he would expedite the issue of the £400 award granted to Keating’s Creameries, Newtownsandes, Co. Kerry, by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission.
Ernest Blythe
Mr. BLYTHE- Inquiry has been made at the offices of the Compensation (Ireland) Commission, and it has been ascertained that final issue of the award referred to by the Deputy has necessarily been postponed for the present pending adjustment of a question of costs. Payment cannot, of course, be made until the award is received in my Department from the Commission.
SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH- asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cause of the delay in making an award upon the claim of the Ardfert Co-operative Dairy Society, Co. Kerry, for compensation arising out of the injury to its business sustained in the pre-Treaty period, and whether he can state when the award will be issued.
Mr. BLYTHE- Enquiry has been made at the offices of the Compensation (Ireland) Commission, and it has been ascertained that the claim referred to by the Deputy is at present under investigation, and that an award may be expected at an early date.
8 Dec 1925; Back to table of contents
DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA- asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has come to any decision on the claim of Michael Foran, of Newtownsandes, Co. Kerry, for a pension under the Blind Persons Act, and whether he will give consideration to the claimant’s statement that six medical certificates of blindness can be produced.
Séamus Aloysius Bourke
Mr. BURKE- This claim was disallowed on the 6th July, 1925, on the ground that the claimant did not fulfil the statutory condition of blindness. A detailed examination of his eyesight was made on the 19th June last by one of the Department’s Medical Inspectors. His report showed that the claimant’s standard of vision was then in excess of that upon which the blind pension is allowable.
17 Dec. 1925; SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH- asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when the award of £45 obtained by James Mahony, Newtownsandes, Co. Kerry, from the Compensation (Ireland) Commission in June, 1925, will be paid, and whether he is aware that this man is in great need at present.
MINISTER for FINANCE (Mr. Blythe) The award referred to by the Deputy has been duly received in my Department and will be discharged
10 Nov 1927; Mr. O’LEARY-asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider the question of the reinstatement of John Reidy, Lixnaw, and Timothy Cronin, Knockanure, County Kerry, postmen, who were imprisoned in 1922 and not re-employed when released.
PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTER for POSTS and TELEGRAPHS (Mr. Heffernan)
Any applications for re-employment in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs which are submitted by the persons mentioned in the Deputy’s question will receive consideration.
