DEATH took place on May 3rd 2019 of Sr. Perpetua O’Brien, late of Moyderwell Covent, Tralee and formerly of Scrahan, Duagh. Deeply regretted by the Mercy Sisters, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Requiem Mass for Sr. Perpetua took place at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rathass on Monday, followed by burial in New Rath Cemetery, Tralee.

ROAD CLOSURE: Works will continue on the R551 Tarbert to Ballylongford Rd. There will be a traffic light system in place on the R551. The L1013 (Bog Road, Bog Line). from Tarmons Cross to The Cross of the woods Will be closed from Monday 13th May at 8 am This will be a 24-hour closure until 7pm on Friday 17th. The road will be fully opened on weekends.

FERGUSON 35; The Downes brothers Mike from Castlebar and Liam from Templeglantine recently participated in a 300kms tractor road run from Dublin to Mayo. Their mode of transport was a 61-year-old Massey Ferguson 35.

AFTERNOON TEA DANCE: There will be an afternoon tea dance in Fr. Casey’s on Sunday, May 19 with dancing to Mike Condon. All funds will go to Laura O’Donoghue’s volunteering trip to Zambia with Suas. Refreshments and raffle.

COMMUNITY ALERT NOTES from Abbeyfeale: Thanks to everyone who supported our recent church gate collection – the monies collected go towards the summer outing and Christmas lunch. Once you reach the age of 65 and live alone or with a person/s aged over 65 you are entitled to receive a monitored alarm system. But if you have younger people living in the house who are out for long periods of the day then because you are spending hours alone you are also entitled to the system provided that you are over 65. The free equipment is provided by Pobal following an application from Abbeyfeale Community Alert, there will be a monitoring fee to be paid from the second year of installation to the installing company of €66. Please note that this fee is payable in a lump sum each year after year one. Should you not have a landline the installing company Task provide a sim card at a rate of €7.50 per month payable from day one.
