ESB; Demand for electricity, the amount of electricity consumed has remained about the same as 2019. MEDIA are constantly portraying death as a tragedy, yet Christians believe that life goes on in the spiritual world, many elderly are looking forward to meeting their own again, after giving their best to God and Country. Do we hear one word of praise for the Nuns and religious orders who sacrificed their whole life for us in the hospitals? FULL MOON on April 8th. Grass which was plentiful despite the wet winter, got a dreadful shock last week, with the cold northerly wind, many fields are now badly singed. Still birds are singing at 6am and flowers are beginning to appear on Blackthorn and plum trees. Soil in gardens is now ideal for working on it, but many have the experience of planting and then see their work going to waste from lack of use of home produced produce. We may not be able to attend Holy Mass for Passion Sunday but we can keep the traditions alive in our homes. POPE Francis spoke the following words: “I know that many of you go to Confession before Easter…Many will say to me ‘But Father… I can’t leave the house and I want to make peace with the Lord. I want him to embrace me… how can I do this unless I find a priest?’ Do what the catechism says. It’s very clear. If you don’t find a priest to go to confession, speak to God. He’s your Father. Tell him the truth: ‘Lord, I did this and this and this. Pardon me.’ Ask his forgiveness with all your heart with an act of contrition and promise Him, ‘Afterwards I will go to confession.’ You will return to God’s grace immediately. You yourself can draw near, as the catechism teaches us, to God’s forgiveness, without having a priest at hand.” JOHN PAUL: Remembering Saint Pope John Paul II who Died April 2, 2005 at Age 84. Born in Poland on May 18, 1920, reigned as Pope from October 16, 1978 until his death on April 2, 2005. Saint Pope John Paul II was canonized on April 27, 2013. USA: Some states – Texas and Ohio to name two – have told the abortion industry to stop performing non-essential procedures. But others – New York, Massachusetts and Virginia … all in control of Democrat governors – say abortion is “essential health care” and have given Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry the green light to go on.
Reflection: In Judaism, Passover commemorates the liberation of Israelites, who were led out of Egypt by Moses after God sent 10 plagues to the Egyptians. In Christianity, Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. The joyous holidays acknowledge the deep suffering that preceded them.
“I think the big question here is, how do you give a sense of hope in the midst of this,” The Rev. Adam Ericksen said. “How do you make sure that coronavirus, and death, doesn’t have the last word? That’s what the resurrection is all about. And now we’re being asked to enact that.”
Stone walls do not a prison make Nor iron bars a cage Minds innocent and quiet take That for a hermitage If I have faith within my heart And in my soul am free Angels alone that soar above Enjoy such liberty. Richard Lovelace (amended)

The Sacred Heart Review, Volume 51, Number 21, 9 May 1914 A new Catholic paper, the Simla Times, has been started by the Most Rev. Dr. Kenealy, Archbishop of Simla, British India. Archbishop Kenealy was formerly known in England as Father Anselm, 0. S. F. C. The Rev. Joseph P. Lyons, assistant at St. Lawrence’s Church, New Bedford, since January, 1910, has been appointed pastor of the Corpus Christi Church of Sandwich, succeeding the late Rev. John F. Downey. The Rev. Daniel F. Gorman, assistant at St. John’s Church, Winthrop, has been transferred to St. Aidan’s Church, Brookline, his place in Winthrop being filled by the Rev. John J. O’Brien, S. T. L., who has been assistant at St. Aidan’s. Gaelic Leaguers and lovers of the Irish language in general will be pleased to know that a course in modern Irish is to be introduced in Columbia University, New York,
The Sacred Heart Review, Volume 48, Number 21, 9 November 1912 The College of Maynooth, Ireland, has given more than one hundred Bishops to the Church, of whom fully one-third were members of the teaching staff. This interesting fact was stated by the Most Rev. Dr. Healy, Archbishop of Tuam, at the consecration recently in Maynooth of the Most Rev. Dr. Mannix as Archbishop-Coadjuditor of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Healy also said:— This ceremony also reminds us that Maynooth, though primarily a college for the education of the Irish clergy, has had a notable share in the missionary activity of the Irish race.
The Heights, Volume XXXVII, Number 19, 16 March 1956 Irish Catholics Topic of Noted Editor In SIGN “There are many things wrong with Irish Catholicism, but the overall picture is too bright for pessimism,” according to John D. Sheridan, Irish editor. Writing on Catholic Ireland in the March issue of The Sign, Mr. Sheridan declared: “Ireland’s Catholicism may be extolled or decried, attacked or defended, but it cannot be ignored.” While Ireland may not be now, as she was in the Golden Monastic Age, an island of saints and scholars, Mr. Sheridan reported, the “annual crop” of Irish vocations still leaves “a substantial surplus for export of priests, brothers, and nuns to Africa, the Philippines, India, Japan, the United States and Australia.” He characterized the Irish Catholic as, until recently, a sheltered Catholic who seldom met religious controversy or anti-Catholic propaganda. Mr. Sheridan believes that the need to strengthen the intellectual and rational side of Irish Catholic life has been brought forth very forcibly in recent years by the falling away amongst thousands of men and women who, since the war, have crossed to work in the factories of Coventry and Birmingham. The Jesuits. Even their enemies admit that they are the strongest group here, both in the sciences and in practice. They have found a way to be in with everybody, or at least to have relationships and friends everywhere. The Liberals themselves tell me that they are the most advanced in Rome. During the cholera, they distinguished themselves by their zeal and charity, bringing to the sick all spiritual and material help, while many members of the clergy withdrew into confinement and did not do their duty. A man who does not appear to be at all religious, and who values the present government of France, spoke to us with indignation about the conduct of the Romans during the cholera and with admiration for the conduct of the Jesuits. There are, he said, only two Roman prelates who did their duty. The Quirinal was closed! These things make a very sad impression on nonbelievers. I have seen, he said, cholera in seven or eight countries, and nowhere have I found so much selfishness and cowardice as here. It comes back to what Princess Borghese was telling us. With this devotion that seems so fervent, the Romans accommodate all the Saints. They receive Communion once a week, deprive themselves of nothing, and above all, are neither more hardworking nor more settled because of it.
