WELL Done to Thomas Broderick Junior of Kilmorna, who with a group from Maynooth cycled to Galway and back to Maynooth for Down Syndrome , E130,000 was collected, Thomas would like to thank all from Kilmorna and District who sponsored him.

WALK: Community centre Sponsored walk on Palm Sunday was a joyful event in fine sunshine and a cool breeze, people of all ages took part. See snippet on youtube at knockanurelocal .

BEE for Battens cards; When a person purchases a card for their loved one, a ‘Ribbon’ will be placed on A Remembrance Tree that will be situated in The Square in Listowel.  There will be a Blessing of the Remembrance Tree, on Wednesday 4th April  2012 at 1.00pm. LOCAL Footballer Patrick Curtin was described as an all round confident powerful performer at corner forward for Kerry in the recent game against Laois when he scored four points from play.

XLChallenge 2012 will take place on the weekend of April 27th-29th 2012. Participants will climb Ireland’s four highest mountains in just 3 days. The Challenge involves climbing Mount Brandon, 3,117ft;  Carrauntoohill 3,414ft;  Galteemore, 3,015 ft and  Lugnaquilla, Co Wicklow 3,039ft.

FULL Moon on April 6th; We are enjoying the recent fine weather, the blackthorn and plum are flowering, some shrubs and bushes have fresh new leaves. Round bales were made last week and ground was prepared for maze planting. Fine Dawn Chorus can be heard from 6am.

DEATH occurred on 8th March 2012 of Tom Brendan O’Connell, son of the late Tommy Connell, The Square, Abbeyfeale. A noted GAA player and sporting enthusiast. The 76-year-old was manager of the racing track at the Market’s Field for over 30 years starting in 1966. The father of three, Brian, Tomas, and Liam, he is pre-deceased by his wife Sheila . Survived by brothers Denis, Florrie and Michael and sister Joan. Following Requiem Mass at Raheen Church, Tom Brendan O Connell was laid to rest at Castlemungret. The O Connells were regular visitors to Knockanure as their aunt Mrs Mulvihill had a bar and grocery shop in the Village.

DEATH took place on 27th March 2012 of Dick Stack of Dromurhur, Moyvane, born June 1928, he was son of Ellie Shanahan who died in 1991 and Robert Stack who died in 1957. His sibling Kathleen O Dwyer and nephews and nieces survive him. Dick was predeceased by siblings, Mary in 2002, John and Pat in 2007. Requiem Mass for Dick Stack was celebrated in Moyvane Church on 29th March 2012 by Fr Luid assisted by Fr McMahon, music and hymns were provided by Margaret O Carroll and Erin Stack. Dick was laid to rest in the family  grave at Ahavoher, Knockanure, he attended the creamery daily since he was a young lad and his interest in greyhounds go back to his youth.

PALM Sunday ceremonies in Knockanure Church attracted a full  church, the local children with help of parents, teachers and Margaret put on a lovely pageant illustrating the long Gospel, a lot of work was put into it and thanks to all who participated.
