Mass was celebrated for Bill Tierney late of Ardagh, Newcastle
West, and Australia, by Fr Larry Madden in Saint Molua’s Church
Ardagh, on Tuesday 19th March 2013. He was a step-brother to
John Joe and Bernard Kennelly Ardagh and he died in Melbourne,
Australia, last June. The Mass was followed by the burial of
ashes in the old Cemetery Abbeyfeale.

ART: An exhibition of art works by Limerick Lady Associates in
tribute to Charlotte Grace O’Brien can be viewed in the Red Door
Gallery Newcastle West. Charlotte was the daughter of William
Smith O’Brien Cahermoyle, Ardagh, and the 1848 patriot.
Charlotte was a novelist and poet, and associated with helping
the women who travelled on Ships that left Cobh for a new life
in America.

MOVIE: Anthony Hopkins is the star of this months Movies That
Matter, Shadowlands. This movies is about C.S. Lewis, a
world-renowned writer and professor, who leads a passionless
life until he meets spirited poet Joy Gresham. It will be shown
in the Ardfert Retreat Centre at 7.30p.m on April 11th.
WALK: Sunday 28th April at 9a.m. Kilmorna to Listowel 8km road
walk which will parallel the yet to be developed railway
section. This is being organised following the successful
Listowel-Abbeyfeale-Listowel road/GST cycle on St. Patrick’s Day

ALL IRELAND: The Irish debating team from Colaiste Ide agus
Iosef of Abbeyfeale are 2013 all Ireland champions in the
Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh they won on 21st March
2013 in Portlaoise, against teams from Athlone, Thurles and
Lucan in the final.
Competing were Laura O’Donoghue, Patricia Murphy and Niamh
Morris, all are in second year.
Over 150 teams from schools throughout Ireland competed in
Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh, their teachers, Patricia
Hennessy and Eileen Lawlor.
