AGM of West Limerick 102 FM will take place in The Desmond Complex Newcastle West on Wednesday 20th June at 8pm, and all are welcome.

GST: 35 km walk/cycle on the Great Southern Trail on  June 16th, they welcome the announcement of €290,000 funding from the Department of Transport to enable Limerick Co.Co. to extend the rail-trail from Abbeyfeale to the Co. Kerry border.

PARENTS: This year’s Annual National Parents Council Conference takes place on 16th June in the National College of Ireland – admission is free.

BEST Wishes to Sharon Buckley and Micheal O Sullivan who were married in Knockanure Church on 8th June 2012. Bridesmaids were Yvonne Buckley, Jennifer Deasy and Niamh O Sullivan. Best man was Colm O Sullivan, Groomsmen Aindriu  and Gearoid O Sullivan. Page boy was Callum Buckley. Parents of the bride are Mary and Gerard Buckley of Knockanure, parents of the groom are Mary and Andy O Sullivan of Kenmare. Musicians at the church were Kate Lucey and James Dillon. The bride an accomplished singer also sang at the mass and Yvonne Buckley read the reflection. Chief celebrant at the wedding was Fr. Tom Looney assisted by Fr. Lucid, Fr. McMahon and Fr. O Callaghan.

RESPONDER: Athea Community First Responders On Saturday 23 June are holding a training course on the following topics. Adult, Infant & Child CPR and Choking along with use of Defibrillator. VINTAGE: Knockanure Vintage meeting will be held in the Community Centre Knockanure on June 15th at 9pm, volunteers are needed for Vintage Day on Aug. 12th 2012.

DRISCOLL Moyvane; Tim Driscoll and Mary McGlin of Gortdromasillihy married 1876 fathers were Jer Driscoll and Tom McGlin. They had children, Julia, Joan, Tom, Mary, Jer and Tim; Michael Driscoll son of Tim Driscoll and Mary McAuliffe was born in 1892; Michael Driscoll of Murhur born 1830 son of Michael Driscoll and Mary Kane, sponsor Margaret Conway, Michael had another sibling Denis born 1833; Joan Driscoll born 1858 daughter of Jer Driscoll and Mary Lyons; John Enright married 1899 Nora Driscoll, fathers Dan Enright and Tim Driscoll; John Horgan born Lissaniskea  1893 to John Horgan and Margaret Driscoll; Jer Horgan born 1900John Horgan and Margaret Driscoll;  In 1901 Jer Driscoll was aged 20 and Willian Driscoll aged 16 were living in Newtownsandes.

KERRYMAN of June 8th 1949 reports that Priests and people of Down and Connor collected £1,576 for Derrynane Appeal. Save Derrynane  subscribers at meeting in Cleary’s Restaurant collected £237. Fenian John O Neill Golden had his family History traced in Kerryman of Jan 1st 1949.

Kerryman of July 9th 1949, church collection for Maynooth, Newtownsandes gave £230, Duagh £110, Ballylongford gave £ 210 and Listowel gave £713.

DEATH:  Sr. Cornelius (Biddy) Holly of Abbey House, Rathfarnham and Tarbert, died on June 4, 2012,  pre- deceased by her sister Carmel (Sr Patrick IBVM), her brothers Mick, Fr Paddy CSSp and Fr Con CSSp; survived by her brother Maurice and her Loreto Community. Requiem Mass for Sr. Cornelius was celebrated in the Church of the Annunciation, Rathfarnham on June 7th, she was laid to rest in Abbey House Cemetery. Sr. Holly was in her 100th year.

CHURCH Events; Do this in Memory of Me programme finished in Knockanure Church on Sunday last, Fr. Lucid thanked all involved over the past months. Holy Hour & Benediction  after the Vigil Mass last Sat. for the success of the Eucharistic Congress.

Tues at the Eucharistic Congress in Dublin the Lyreacrompane School Children will tell the story of the Ciborium found in Ardydonegan bog in 1923. Medjugorje Monthly Prayer Meeting was held on Monday June 11th at 7.30pm. in St. Patrick’s Hall.

WALK in the footsteps of St Brendan on Saturday, June 16th at 10am, start at the Car Park of St. Johns Church, Castle Street.  There will be a short unveiling ceremony, followed immediately by the inaugural leg of the Camino from Tralee to Camp, approx. 18 km.

LATIN MASS  on Sunday, June 17th in The Dominican, Holy Cross Church, Tralee at 1.30pm.
