ENERGY Minister Eamon Ryan has told us that Wavebob Ltd has
secured a grant of E1.83 million from the US Department of
Energy. Bord Gáis is also to invest €1.8m in Wavebob Ltd.
The Countries first geothermal electricity generating station
is to be built in Dublin, they have already spent over E160.000
boring a deep well.
A biomass plant at Rhode, Co Offaly is expecting farmers to
supply them with material to burn.
GAA: Knockanure GAA, Community Centre and Vintage Club made a
presentation to Breda Lane on Saturday night Oct. 9th `10, to
mark her playing in the Senior Ladies All Ireland Semi-Final,
Gerard Greaney on behalf of the local GAA club made the
introduction and Fr Tom McMahon gave a short speech stressing
the community aspect of the occasion, photos were taken after
which tea and sandwiches were available for all. The public
spirit of the local ladies in providing the food and catering is
greatly appreciated.

LATE LATE Show last weekend had a very talented young Abbeyfeale
singer, Adam O Sullivan, he delighted the listeners with his

operation a while ago. His grandmother Eileen Looney is from
Knockanure and her husband Denis O Sullivan is from the Thatch
Bar Lisselton.

HUNGER: 1980 was a time of hunger strikes, The Republican
prisoners in Long Kesh and Armagh called off their hunger strike

SAINT: October 1975 Blessed Oliver Plunkett who died at Tyburn
in 1681 was canonised. 15,000 Irish pilgrims and 50,000 from all
over the world joined in the celebrations in Rome, The Taoiseach
and about 200 relations of St Oliver were present, also there
was he future Pope Cardinal Wyzinsky. It is claimed that
Catholics and Protestants made up the false evidence given at
the Trial of Oliver Plunkett. At a special ceremony in Drogheda
about 900 disabled people from all over the country attended a
ceremony to mark St Oliver’s canonisation.
FIRST labour government of NSW was sworn in on 21st Oct 1910 and
Kristina Keneally M P the present and first woman Premier of NSW
will be keynote speaker at the Labour Centenary Dinner later in

MISSION Sunday Oct. 17th ; 30,000 volunteers and Missionaries
