PRESENTATION on behalf of the people of Knockanure will be made
to our retired Sgt Mike Sheehy in the Community Centre
Knockanure on 15th December at 8.p.m. Everybody welcome.
BENE Merenti Medal was recently presented to Mrs Sheehan at Mass
in Moyvane church. Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated by Fr
Lucid assisted by former Parish Priests of the Parish, Fr. Nolan
and Fr. Fleming. Moyvane choir sang a selection of hymns. Family
members, friends and Knockanure Sacristan congratulated Margaret
Sheehan following the ceremony; Shane Hanrahan gave a few words
congratulating Mrs Sheehan on receiving the medal from the Pope
for her pleasant and dignified attention to duty over many
years, both in Moyvane and before that in England. ICA ladies
and helpers provided tea and refreshments.

SONGS of the Boro was launched at the Marian Hall on Fri. Dec.
9th, proceeds go to Crumlin Hospital. All the contributors to
the CD were in attendance and we got a sample of their
contribution, many of the songs and recitations would be lost
were it not for the dedication of all involved. The ICA and
local ladies provided refreshments at the launch.

ENROLMENT Ceremony for Knockanure First Communion children was
held recently at Knockanure Church, posters and artwork of
pupils and teachers were on display. The children sang hymns and
all joined in to applaud them at the end of a lovely ceremony.

MEMORIAL: Minister Jimmy Deenihan unveiled a memorial in honour
of Fr. Jerry Roche at Athea Church on Sunday last 11th Dec.
2011, a large crowd attended; Moyvane and Knockanure were well
represented at the event. The day was showery, but the unveiling
took place between the showers as many of the acknowledgements
and stories about Fr. Jerry were told in the church. A book on
his busy life would be welcome.
DEATH took place on December 3rd 2011 of Dr Jim Brosnan of Spa
Road, Dingle, he is survived by his wife Kitty, sons Dr. Conor,
Barry and Seán, brother Jerry in Moyvane. Requiem Mass for Jim
Brosnan was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Dingle on Tuesday
6th December 2011, he was laid to rest at St. Brendan’s
Cemetery, Dingle. Jim Brosnan was born at Moyvane, son of Con
Brosnan and Catherine Walsh, his siblings Mick and Eileen
predeceased him. Dr. Jim won All Irelands in 1953, ’55 and ’59,
he made 50 appearances for Kerry and was also GAA County Board
chairman. Jim Brosnan started practice in Dingle in 1959.
DEATH of Pat Hayes of Gortnaminch, Listowel, took place on 3rd
December 2011, aged 59 years. Pat is survived by his wife
Pauline and children, Ann-Marie, Sean and Margaret, sisters
Maretti, Honor, Alice, brothers Declan, David, Edmond, Max and
George. Requiem Mass at Listowel Church was celebrated on
Tuesday 6th December 2011, following Mass Pat was laid to rest
at St Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel. Pat was son of Mary Trant
and Sean Hayes and was predeceased by his brother Fr John who
died in Kenya.
DEATH took place in Dublin recently of Breda Thomas nee
Cunningham. Breda was daughter of Brian Cunningham and Noreen
Keane of Kilbaha and she had siblings Dick, Donal, Joan, Peg,
John Chris and Brian.
