Kerryman of 25th Sept. 1909 reports murder of water bailiff, there is a second murder in the October edition; Pierce Mahony a former member of the Irish Parliamentary Party was accused of evicting a Kerry tenant, but it was his son Cork Herald in Dublin Castle who done the deed; District Inspector McAuley who was retiring was described by Mr McElligott as one of natures gentlemen; Listowel court, Mathew James a corner boy was fined 10s 6d for abusive language, Mary Mournane fined 2/6 for abusive language, Jer Galvin of Ballyhennessy summonsed for assault, case dismissed, Gowran of Knocknacrohy failed to pay rent.

DEATH: has taken place of Thomas Trench of Ballindine, Co. Mayo on Oct. 7th `09, he is survived by his wife Rita, children John, Martin, Paula, Thomas, Sabina, Jarlath and Chiara, his sisters Mary, Lilly and Claire. His daughter Louise predeceased him. Requiem Mass for Thomas Trench was celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Ballindine on Friday October 9th `09. Thomas was father-in law of the well known Comhaltas singer Karen Trench of Listowel.
DEATH took place on October 9th `09 of Pat Nolan of Ballygrennan and Charles Street, Listowel. Pat is survived by his wife Lily Horgan, son Pat and daughters Celine and Lisa, all his siblings Denis, Mary and Sheila predeceased him. Following Requiem Mass in Listowel Church on Monday October 12th `09 Pat Nolan was laid to rest at St Michaels Churchyard Listowel. Pat Nolan was son of Pat Nolan creamery manager at Kilmorna Creamery and Bridie Brosnan also a native of Kilmorna.
