BEST WISHES to Fr Pat Ahern who began Siamsa Tire forty years ago and is still active in the community. Video footage and pictures of Siamsa events over the years are on display in Tralee at present. Fr Pats father was also active in politics and was Chairman of Kerry County Council 1949/50.
MILITARY Weekend in Listowel attracted a great crowd, people of all nations were in attendance, let us remember all who suffered to give us the environment which we enjoy at present. Pause and remember how we neglected the men and women who returned home broken and ended up in Killarney. The lectures and exhibitions held during the weekend were gave us information about Irish at home and abroad, useful for an overview of the past.

DEATH took place Mary Rose Kennelly of Gortdromagowna, on Wednesday 7th May 2014. Mary Rose survived by siblings, Rita, Eileen, Joan, Jer, John, Mort, Pat, Tom and Stan, aunts, Margaret, Noreen and Joan. Mary Rose was predeceased by her sister Nora who died in April 2005. Removal from Finucane’s Funeral Home to Knockanure Church on Saturday 10th May 2014 at 8.30pm and funeral Mass in Knockanure Church at 1pm on Sunday, followed by interment at Knockanure Old Churchyard. Mary Rose was daughter of the late Patrick Kennelly and Mary Daly.
DEATH took place on Sunday May 4th 2014 of Sr. Conception O’Connor, Formerly of Knockanure, Moyvane, Listowel. Born to Patrick O Connor and Nora Pierce at Keylod in 1911. Sr. Conception is survived by her nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends and by The Presentation Sisters, Dungarvan. Requiem Mass was celebrated for Sr. Conception O Connor on Wednesday 7th May in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Dungarvan, with interment afterwards in The Community Cemetery, Youghal Road. Sister had three brothers priests; Fr. Con Connor. Ordained 1945. Died 1989. Son of Patrick Connor and Nora Pierce. Born 1910. Fr. John Connor. Ordained 1935. Died 1993. Ministered in Sacramento. Fr. Michael Connor. Ordained 1933. Born 1908. Ministered in Los Angeles.

Kerryman May 23rd 1964 , reports death of Fr Tim Shanahan of Inchamore at age 71 years. He was pastor of St Paul’s Church, Sanpablo1955, ordained All Hollows 1916, served San Francisco, buried St Joseph’s Cemetery San Pablo.
23rd May 1964, Death of Ted Houlihan, Ahafona, Ballybunion, aged 75 years, he joined the IRA in 1917. Company Captain Ballybunion. Survived by son Eddie at Ahafona, daughter, Mrs Bridie Flahive, Toronto, sister Mrs Nora Cannon and Mrs Rita Barrett of Pittsburgh. Received military honours at funeral.
