CONGRATULATIONS to students of
Knockanure Scoil Chorp Chriost who performed so well at the
Listowel District Credit Union Quiz on Fri. 3rd Feb 2012, 36
teams from schools all over North Kerry took part in the quiz.
Knockanure under 11 team won their category for the third time
in a row, the team were ; Lauren O Sullivan Mahony, Conor
Horgan, Tadg McEvoy and Cian Rogan. Our Under 13 team were
beaten by one mark for First Place. The team was Marie Kennelly,
Maedbh McEvoy, Christopher Keane and Eric Barry. Well done to
you all. Your school is very proud of you.
Grandparents Day was held in Knockanure School on Feb. 1st, a
prayer service was held to celebrate Grandparents Day. There was
a huge attendance at the school, the older people present
reminisced about their youth and school days, the students were
very interested. Fr Lucid spoke about the importance of
grandparents in the lives of children. It was a very special day
for all.
PARENTS: An Information Evening for Parents with Teens will take
place at Listowel Family Resource Centre on Monday February 20th

WALK: Knockanure Community Centre 3rd Annual Sponsored Walk to
be held on Sunday 1st April at 2pm at Knockanure Community

GAA: National Football League Div 1Round 1, it was great to see
how local man Patrick Curtin laid on the ball for Darren O
Sullivan to score a goal at Croke Park, leading to a Kerry win,
others from the locality playing were Shane Enright, Brian
McGuire and Anthony Maher. Speed camera must have caught some
locals rushing to Tralee for the match on Saturday evening last.

DEATH took place on February 5th 2012 of Sr. Irene Stack of
Mercy Convent, Balloonagh, Tralee and formerly of
Ballygoughlin, Glin, Co. Limerick. Requiem Mass for Sr. Irene
Stack was celebrated in Balloonagh Convent Chapel on Wednesday
8th February, Irene was laid to rest in the nearby Convent
Cemetery. Irene was daughter of Ned Stack( died1939) and
Josephine (Ciss) Ruddle (died1931) and was predeceased by
siblings Fiona who died 1999 and Tom died 1972. Irene lodger in
Tralee and attended Moyderwell Mercy Secondary School before
entering the convent. Her aunt Sr. Evangelist Stack was also a
Mercy Sister she died 1977.

CONGRESS : Eucharistic Congress Moyvane Parish has been
allocated 12 tickets for the Closing Ceremony and Mass of this
year’s Eucharistic Congress in Croke Park, Dublin on the
afternoon of Sunday 17th June, 2012. These tickets will be
allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Wednesday, June 13th. Bus leaving the Parish Centre Tralee at
6am, for the R.D.S., Dublin, returning to Kerry at 6pm.
Listowel have been allocated 26 tickets for the Congress, apply
at the Parish Office. The Congress will attract thousands to
Dublin and from all around the world, even our government for
jobs reasons, could special offers to visitors.

COMMUNION; Do this in Memory Programme event for First Communion
Class took place in Knockanure Church on Sunday last, it adds a
little bit of ceremony to the Sunday Mass.
SPEAKER: Fr. John O Keeffe of SMA spoke at Mass on Sunday last
about the involvement of the Irish in mission countries and
their contribution to the new nations in Africa.
