OUR LADY: As the month of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, we have two
feasts of Our Lady: the Nativity of Mary (nine months after the
Immaculate Conception, on Dec. 8), and the Feast of the Holy Name of
Mary, instituted as a universal feast of the Church by Pope Innocent
XI to commemorate her intercession in the important Christian military
victory over the Ottoman Turks at the Siege of Vienna in 1683. The
fifteenth of September, finally, commemorates the Seven Sorrows of Our
Lady, a powerful devotion which taps into Mary’s mediation and
powerful participation in Christ’s Redemption.

MONEY: The Bord Bia chair added that these procurement controls, which
are monitored through expenditure analysis four times a year,
identified that expenditure of some €1.2 million was incurred without
a competitive tendering procedure taking place.
However, this figure of €1.2 million is less than half the amount that
was spent in non-compliance with procurement rules in 2024, which was
€2.6 million.
According to Murrin, this shows “improved adherence to procurement
policies following the strengthening of controls during 2025”.

DRAGONFLY: Fearless and quietly astonishing’: the dragonfly that
migrates further than any other insect —————————–
Its ubiquity and ability to quickly produce a new generation point to
its truly awesome power: this 4.5cm-long insect weighing a fraction of
a gram migrates further than any other known insect. Across
generations, it completes a route of up to 18,000km between India and
east Africa. Some individuals even cross 3,500km of open water – the
Indian Ocean – riding high-altitude monsoon winds. Ben Price,
principal curator of entomology at the Natural History Museum in
London, said this miraculous migration had been discovered only this
century.

LOBBY GROUPS: First quarter of 2026, finding that another 568 local
governments hired fossil fuel lobbyists to work
The research by F Minus and Make Polluters Pay reviewed congressional
lobbying disclosures for the first quarter of 2026, finding that
another 568 local governments hired fossil fuel lobbyists to work on
non-climate related issues during that time, some of which included
climate adjacent issues, like healthcare and home insurance.
Dozens of lobbying firms were identified by researchers as working on
both sides of climate action. James Browning, the founder and
executive director of F Minus, said local governments who hire these
firms to lobby for climate mitigation, disaster relief, and wildlife
conservation likely don’t know that the same firms are working for
clients like ExxonMobil and the American Petroleum Institute (API),
which critics say are pushing to further dependence on fossil fuels.
“They are locked into these relationships with big firms and may also
not know they are the ones blocking climate efforts,” Browning said.

Solar
“Once operational, the project intends to supply up to 120MWac of
installed solar capacity or 174,000 megawatt hours provided to the
national grid each year. That’s equivalent to the energy needs of
40,000 households, per year,” they said.
Circal added that Tarmon Solar Farm will not just bring a clean and
renewable energy source but will also bring benefits both to society
and the environment, including a Community Benefit Fund to a value of
€7.1m approximately over the lifetime of the scheme.”

GREEN: Vula Tsetsi, Co-Chair of the European Green Party:

“Price rises in energy costs are not just an economic pattern, it is a
political failure that leaves people in Europe permanently exposed to
shocks along the supply chain. Every crisis in the fossil fuel market
becomes a price shock for European households.
But this situation is not inevitable. A renewable energy system that
delivers stability, autonomy and protection for people in Europe is
possible.
Europe cannot remain in the hands of fossil fuel interests and lobbies
that profit from this dependency

Pope Leo XIV reflects on human love
By Nicolás de Cárdenas
ACI Prensa Staff, 09 September, 2026 / 11:35 pm (ACI Africa).
Pope Leo XIV reflects on human love in the prologue to the new edition

feeling but rather “a decision, a journey, and a lifelong covenant.”
This version of the catechism, aimed at young people preparing for the
vocation of marriage, is scheduled for release in November. The first
edition of this catechism was published one week after the passing of
Pope Francis in May 2025.
