THOUGHT: Mary in the Bible and in the Koran

“The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favoured! The Lord is with you.” (Luke, 1:28)

“Behold! the angels said: “O Mary! Allah has chosen you and purified you – chosen you above the women of all nations.” (Koran, 3:42) ; “Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.” (Luke, 1.29-31) Behold! The angels said: “O Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be ?sa (Christ Jesus), the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah” (Koran, 3:45);
