PADRE PIO EVENING MASS: will take place Thursday evening  18th at 7.00p.m.  Beginning with the Rosary followed by mass and Benediction. St Pio prayer meeting at Lixnaw on Tuesday 16th at 7.30PM .Witness will be given by Noirin Ni Riain.

KNOCKANURE: Annual Christmas Celebration “The Nativity” will take place again this year in Corpus Christi Church Knockanure on Sunday 21st Dec. at 6.30pm. Sacristan Annual Collection  will be on Dec 24th/ 25th .Envelopes at the back of the Church.

STAR:  International Space Station can be seen till Dec. 28th.

BEST WISHES to Paula Hannon and Gerard O Flaherty who were married at Listowel Church on 5th December 2014 by Canon Declan O Connor. Best man was Denny O Flaherty, Bridesmaid was Eimear Joy. The bride is daughter of Teresa and the late Joe Hannon of Listowel. The groom is son of Denis and Eileen O Flaherty of Moyvane.

DEATH took place of Thomas 0’Donoghue on December 9th. 2014, a native of Dromreask, Glin, he was an Auctioneer and former staff member of Glin Creamery and editor of The Ballyguiltenane Rural Journal. Survived by his wife and two sons, grandson and sister. Requiem Mass for Tom Donoghue was celebrated at Church of the Immaculate Conception, Glin on 13th December, Burial afterwards in Kilfergus Cemetery Glin.

DEATH has taken place of Peggy Sheehan (nee King) of Leitrim Middle, Moyvane on Dec 5th 2014. wife of the late Michael, survived by  sons Patrick & Noel, daughters Maura & Bernie, cousin Eileen, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces.

Requiem mass for Peggy Sheehan was celebrated on Tuesday 9th December in the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane, burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Knockanure, Moyvane. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Lucid PP, assisted by Canon Fleming and Fr Nolan. Sean Jones was deacon, Sr. Consolata played the organ and Sean Ahern sang the hymns. Peggy was born in 1929 went to school in Abbeyfeale, worked in England where she was involved in several Irish Organisations. Married in 1962 and came to Moyvane in 1964, her husband Michael died in 1977. Served as Sacristan in Moyvane Church for 18 years and received the Popes medal in 2011 on her retirement.

DEATH took place on 24th November 2014 of Stephen John Timothy SOULES, Listowel, Kilmorna and of the Isle of Grain, Kent, U.K. Son of  Margaret Mary Soules (nee Keane) late of Kilmorna. Requiem Mass  on Tuesday 16th December at St. Brigid’s Church, Duagh. Burial afterwards in Springmount Cemetery, Duagh.

DEATH took place on 12th December 2014 of Margaret Moloney (née Galvin) of Derry, Listowel. Late of Lahesrough, Ballybunion. Wife of Brendan and mother of Mary, Noreen, John, Denis and Brendan; also survived by daughters-in-law Colette and Norita, sons-in-law Neil and Noel, grandchildren, brothers, sisters. Requiem Mass at Mary’s Church Listowel, on December 15th, Burial afterwards at John Paul Cemetery, Listowel.

 DEATH took place on 7th December 2014 in Argentina of Fr. Liam Hayes SVD, formerly of Cappamore, Co. Limerick, brother of Donncha, the late Angela, Pat, Marion, John, Tom, Bernadette, and Seamus, uncle of Fr Donncha Ó hAodha. On December 10, after Requiem Mass celebrated by Mons Damian Bitar, Bishop of Obera, his mortal remains were laid to rest in the Rosary Garden he created in the Cheshire Homes.

IRISH CATHOLIC CATECHISM FOR ADULTS ; The 10 week course facilitated by Fr. Sean Sheehy  will run again for 10 Monday nights.  Booking for this second course which is open to anybody from our Pastoral  Area of Listowel, Duagh, Moyvane and Lixnaw may be done by contacting Listowel Parish Office a.s.a.p. 068 21188.

SWIM:A fundraising swim will take place in Ballybunion on New Year’s Day at 1pm. All money collected will go to the Day Hospital at St. Ita’s , NCW.

WALK on old railway on Sat. 27th December at 2.30pm commencing at the old Abbeyfeale Station. The round trip for walkers is to the Kerry Border and back (4 miles total) while cyclists will go to Tullig Wood, Templeglantine and back (10 miles total). Refreshments will be provided afterwards at the adjacent Railway Bar, Abbeyfeale. For cycle enthusiasts there will be a 10km cycle to Barnagh and back at the same time.

MY NORTH KERRY HOME. CD will be launched at Ballyroe Hotel on Wed. Dec. 17th at 9pm.  These tracks are the work of Anne O’Connor formerly the Dale Rd and Ballyduff and are sung by Moira. Proceeds in aid of cancer society.

DUAGH had a big crowd in the village on 3rd and 4th of Dec. as the Munster Schools Basketball competitions was being held there.

BALLYGUILTENANE: Thomas J O’Donoghue, editor of the Ballyguiltenane Rural Journal for the past 37 years died last week. This year’s edition is put on hold for the time being.

CHURCH: Bishop Brendan Leahy of Limerick, (his father a Kerryman) is to hold a Council over three days in 2016. It is the first ecclesiastical council of its kind in Limerick for over 70 years.

NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 5 1895.- Having lived 104 years in Ireland, Mrs. Mary Coffey has come to America to pass the balance of her days. She arrived on the steamer Aurania yesterday with her daughter Catherine, 60 years old. Mrs. Coffey was born March 17, 1791. She remembers the “Rising” of ’98. Her brother, lO1 years old, is living in County Kerry.

The will of. Father Patrick Scanlan, who died in New York on May 31 1904  was filed for probate in the Superior Court yesterday with the petition of Fathers Patrick J. Keane of St. Joseph’s Church and Father M. D. Slattery of St. Agnes Church for appointment as executors. The estate is said to consist of a library of unknown value and of seventy-two shares of stock in the Spring Valley Water Company, valued at $2880. The will was dated March 9. 1904, and his heirs are a brother, James Scanlan of Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland, and a sister, Margaret Murphy of Ballybunion, County Kerry.
