SCHOOL  Concert will take place in Knockanure Community Centre on 19th of December at 7.30 pm followed by local musicians, singers and story tellers. There will also be tickets sold on the night for spot prizes. Your support will be appreciated.

KNOCKANURE: Annual Christmas Celebration of The Nativity Pageant will take place again this year in Corpus Christi Church Knockanure on Sunday 22nd December 2013.

Knockanure Sacristan’s Annual Collection will take place as usual on the 24th/25th December.

ST PIO Devotions at Lixnaw Church on Dec. 17th at 7.30pm.

PADRE PIO devotions in Listowel will take place on Thursday19th December at 7.00p.m.  Beginning with the Rosary followed by mass and Benediction.

MASS at Listowel Community Hospital, Wednesday 18th Dec. at 2pm.

CHOIRS: Guinness Book of Records carol singers record. The event will take place in Croke Park Stadium, on Thursday, 19th of December between 7pm & 9pm and will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan. More from

DEATH took place in America last week of Elizabeth (Betty) Newmann  (nee) McElligott formerly of Lissaniska. Knockanure, Co Kerry.
Elizabeth Margaret Neumann, 45, of Ridgefield, wife of Bob Neumann passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Elizabeth was born on August 22, 1968 to John and Margaret (Enright) McElligott; she was one of seven children. Elizabeth moved to the United States at the age of 17. She spent most of her life as a caregiver helping many people in the area. Elizabeth was predeceased by her father, John McElligott and mother, Margaret McElligott. In addition to her husband Bob Neumann of Ridgefield, CT, Elizabeth is survived by brothers, John, Michael and Thomas McElligott; sisters, Mary Kennedy and husband James, Margaret Whyte and husband Eamonn, and her sister Siobhan McElligott. Elizabeth is also survived by her father and mother-in-law; Harry and Lorraine Neumann, brothers in law and their wives, Chip and Pam Neumann, Russ and Holly Neumann, Jeff and Mary Neumann; sisters in law, Janet Neumann, Shaylene Neumann Kelley and husband Joe Kelley; nieces and nephews, Aaron, Jake and Megan Whyte, John and Stephanie Kennedy, Heather and Rob Salaga, Bridget and Conor Lander, Leah, Brooke, Kyle, Jamie, Cory and Ryan Neumann, Shaylene and Russell Fink, Michael and Tracy Mallozzi, and Billy, Abby and Colin Kelley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 17th 2013 at 10:15am in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

ST. MARY’ S CHURCH TARBERT Mass for deceased E.S.B. employees of Tarbert Power Station will take place on Tuesday 17th  at 8pm. Light refreshments served afterwards. All Welcome.

ST JOHN’S Thursday 19th, Kerry School of Music – Christmas Concert.

SCHOOL Show at St John’s;  Wed 18th, Snow White and Rose Red’s Christmas Adventure. The beautiful sisters, a handsome prince, his dashing brother, a cuddly bear, a witch and her naughty son create  mayhem and laughter in this Christmas panto for primary students. Presented by Centre Stage Theatre, Belfast at 10am and 11.30am.

FULL MOON on Dec 17th, after some very fine weather, heavy rain on Saturday last was an unpleasant change.

ANCESTORS: We have two parents, four grandparents, and eight great-grandparents. If we go back four generations, we have 16 ancestors. Going back eight generations (160 years), we have 256 ancestors. And at 12 generations (240 years), we find there are 4,096 ancestors.

NEWS: The University of Oxford and the Vatican have jointly created a digital project that will put online over 1.5 million pages of medieval and biblical texts.

Probate of the will of the Rev Matthew Dillon of Newtownsandes who died on Oct 26 1918 ? has been granted to his nephew the Rev Jeremiah Dillon to whom the testator bequeathed his gold watch and his library, to his brother Patrick £100 and his sister Mrs Danaher £50 Father Dillon left the residue of his property in trust two thirds for the children of the poor attending the schools of Newtownsandes and one third for children attending the schools of Knockanure. He left to the parish £225 which he had expended on the presbytery and the thirty eight pews which he had put up at the cost of 27s each His personal estate has been valued at £1702 19s 3d.
