DEATH of Sr. Eileen Scanlon (late of Moher, Moyvane and Little sisters of the Assumption on April 23, 2014. Survived by her Religious family, sister, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends. Requiem mass was celebrated in Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure for Kathleen O Dwyer on Tuesday the 10th of June, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel Kathleen O Dwyer , born at Dromurhur was daughter of Ellie Shanahan who died in 1991 and Robert Stack who died in 1957, she was predeceased by all of her siblings, Mary in 2002, John and Pat in 2007 and in March 2012 Dick Stack died.
DEATH: Patrick (Paud) Woulfe of Cratloe, Abbeyfeale died 9th June 2014 in the Oaklands Nursing Home Listowel. Paud was predeceased by his wife Joanie, siblings Dan and Bees. Survived by sister Nora, sister-in-law Brenda, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. Requiem Mass in Athea Church for Paud Woulfe was celebrated on Thursday the 12th of June, followed by burial in Temple Athea Cemetery.
DEATH took place in London on 10th March 2014 of Tom Flaherty who was born at Gortdromagowna, Knockanure 73 years ago to Tim Flaherty and Hanora O Connor. Tom was predeceased by his wife and is survived by three daughters, sisters Nora and Hannah and brother Pat. He was predeceased by siblings, John in 2005, Tim, Willie, Michael and Mary. Mass will be celebrated for Tom Flaherty at Moyvane Church on 22nd June 2014.

DEACONS: The Diocese is at present seeking men to become Permanent Deacons. An initial ‘Come and See Year’ will commence in the Autumn for a number of Munster dioceses. Deacons have a ministry in three areas of Church Life: the Eucharist, the Word of God and service to the poor. At present we have two, who please God, will be ordained deacons in November and three who have completed their first year (a ‘Come and See Year’). Nationally 31 deacons have been ordained and 58 are in training. Married men over the age of 35 and single men over 25 may apply. The upper age limit for ordination is 63.
