CORPUS CHRISTI EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION:  Sunday 22nd June in Listoel after the 11.00 a.m. Mass.

DEATH of  Sr. Eileen Scanlon (late of Moher, Moyvane and Little sisters of the Assumption on April 23, 2014. Survived by her Religious family, sister, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends. Requiem Mass for Sister Eileen was celebrated at the Church the Holy Family, Kill-o’the-Grange, she was laid to rest in Deans Grange Cemetery.

DEATH took place on 7th June 2014 of Kathleen O’Dwyer (née Stack) of Shrone Middle, Listowel,  wife of the late Tom. Deeply regretted by her sister-in-law Noreen, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.

 Requiem mass was celebrated in Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure for Kathleen O Dwyer on Tuesday the 10th of June, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel Kathleen O Dwyer , born at Dromurhur was daughter of Ellie Shanahan who died in 1991 and Robert Stack who died in 1957, she was predeceased by all of her  siblings, Mary in 2002, John and Pat in 2007 and in March 2012  Dick Stack died.

DEATH: Patrick (Paud) Woulfe of Cratloe, Abbeyfeale died 9th June 2014 in the Oaklands Nursing Home Listowel. Paud was predeceased by his wife Joanie, siblings Dan and Bees. Survived by sister Nora, sister-in-law Brenda, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. Requiem Mass in Athea Church for Paud Woulfe was celebrated on Thursday the 12th of June, followed by burial in Temple Athea Cemetery.

DEATH took place in London on 10th March 2014 of Tom Flaherty who was born at Gortdromagowna, Knockanure 73 years ago to Tim Flaherty and Hanora O Connor. Tom was predeceased by his wife and is survived by three daughters, sisters Nora and Hannah and brother Pat. He was predeceased by siblings, John in 2005, Tim, Willie, Michael and Mary. Mass will be celebrated for Tom Flaherty at Moyvane Church on 22nd June 2014.

DEACONS: The Diocese is at present seeking men to become Permanent Deacons.  An initial ‘Come and See Year’ will commence in the Autumn for a number of Munster dioceses.  Deacons have a ministry in three areas of Church Life: the Eucharist, the Word of God and service to the poor.  At present we have two, who please God, will be ordained deacons in November and three who have completed their first year (a ‘Come and See Year’).  Nationally 31 deacons have been ordained and 58 are in training.   Married men over the age of 35 and single men over 25 may apply.  The upper age limit for ordination is 63.  If you are interested. please talk to your local priest or contact Rev. CONGRATULATIONS to Sr. Helen Culhane of ‘Childrens Grief Project’ on her ‘local hero’ award. Children’s Grief Project is a support service for school-aged children and young people affected by loss through death, separation or divorce.

THE MESSAGE OF DONAL WALSH on the importance of living life to the full has been translated into Latin and will be carried to Rome in the coming weeks in a cycling journey which will begin on Wednesday, June 18th, in St. John’s Church Tralee with a short prayer service at 3pm.

FR. EAMON WHYTES 50 YEARS OF PRIESTHOOD: will be celebrated by the Rathea community at a special mass on Friday June 27th at 7.30pm led by Bishop Ray Browne.  The celebration will continue in the Clubhouse in Mountcoal with music and song.

NIGHT AT THE DOGS: Tarbert G.A.A. in conjunction with Ferry Rangers are holding a “Race Night” at Tralee Greyhound Track on Friday July 12th. Tickets will be available from committee members.

TIRC and KASI will present a seminar on Monday June 23rd at 10.45am in the Fels Point Hotel, Tralee to mark World Refugee Day. The seminar will look at the Challenges of Life after Direct Provision and how living in limbo leaves a lasting legacy on people trying to build a self-sufficient life.

THE HISTORY OF BALLYMULLEN BARRACKS by Robert Tangney will be launched at Tralee Library on Tuesday the 24th of June at 7.00pm. The book incorporates the two hundred year history of the barracks and also includes related areas in Tralee such as The Staff Barracks, Killierisk Graveyard, Haigs Terrace and Castlemorris House. The book will be launched by Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Carey O/C 12th Battalion, Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick.

LAUNCH of Kat Caball book at Writers Week; Jimmy Moloney would officiate at this last event which just happened to be the launch of his aunt’s book.   Minister Deenihan then spoke and spoke on his work with the National Famine Commemoration Committee and in particular he mentioned his visit to Hyde Park Barracks in Sydney last August for the International Famine Commemoration, where the Earl Grey Girls were honoured and where he met a number of their descendants.
