SAINT PIO Prayer Group will meet at Listowel Church  on Thursday 20th May.  It will begin with the Rosary at 7.15pm. which will be followed by exposition of Blessed Sacrament & Benediction.

PROCESSION: Annual Queen of the May Procession will take place in Knockanure Church on Sunday 23rd May at 3pm. Guest speaker Fr. Broderick. Flowers and Candles welcome for May Altar to Our Lady.

CLASSES: Aerobic Classes will commence at Knockanure Community Centre on Wednesday 9th June at 8pm. For details of classes contact Maggie on 087 9866533.

SENIOR Citizens Committee Meeting was due to be held on Tuesday 17th at 7.30pm.

TIDY Towns Committee in Knockanure appeals for full participation in this year’s Competition which will be judged from June 1st. Anyone who would like to sponsor a shrub or a tray of flowers would be welcome to get in touch with the Committee. Many volunteers around the country pick up and dispose of cans and rubbish which are dumped from cars at night, some like to dispose of evidence before reaching their abode.

DISPLAY: Kearney’s Window now have a Guinness memorabilia display; Knockanure School have students work on the windows welcoming summer, thanks to their art teacher who is also painting a mural.

FILM: Several in the locality are contributing to a film being made on the river Feale and its environs.

GAA: Congratulations to Moyvane Minors who won their Division County League Final against Tarbert recently. The team and parents wish to thank Dan Flavin and Jerry Fitzmaurice, for all they have done for this team over the past 10 years.

ICA was established in May 1910 and now has 15,000 members; it will be a very busy year for Moyvane born Kerry County President Noreen McEvoy. A Special Mass and presentation was held for Noreen in the Marian Hall on Tuesday last. The Foley and Mulvihill families and others provided the entertainment. Food was also served. Next meeting of the Guild was due to take place on Tuesday 18th May at 8.00pm at the Marian Hall.  ICA has an exhibition in the library in Tralee at present.  ICA are to exhibit on  June 3rd at Abbeyfeale Library. Old photos, memorabilia, crafts pertaining to ICA past and present. The National ICA, AGM will be held on May 26th at the Woodland House Hotel, Adare from 10.30 to 4pm.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tady Finucane who came second in the boys U18/19  Shot in the County Championships which were held recently in Castleisland.

Ten Years ago locals Tara and Selena Mulvihill won the All Ireland singing titles at the Oireachtas Finals.

SHOW: County Show was a great family day out on Sunday last, there was something for everyone, even people with restricted mobility could sit in the sunshine and observe. No sign of the recession at the show that the media are constantly moaning about.
