THOUGHT: To pray is nothing more involved than to lie in the

DEATH has taken place of Mary Horgan nee Stack who lived in
England and retired to Gortdromasillihy. Mary was daughter of
Nora Flaherty of Knockanure and Gerald Stack of Dooncaha. Mary
is survived by four sons and siblings Peg Meade, Hanora Sullivan
and Gerard Stack. She was predeceased by her Husband Pat Horgan,
sisters Noreen, Bridie and Kitty. Following Requiem Mass
celebrated by Fr McMahon in Moyvane Church, Mary Horgan was laid
to rest on 13th June 2012 beside her husband Pat at Ahavoher
Graveyard, he died in November 2006 aged 82.
Death has taken place of Joan Keane aged 92 of Kilmeaney,
Kilmorna. Daughter of Tim Keane and Bridget Ahern. Joan was
predeceased by all of her siblings, Jack, Paddy, Dan, Mike, Ted,
Lil, Moll and Bridie. Requiem Mass for Joan Keane was celebrated
in Knockanure Church by Fr Lucid assisted by Fr McMahon a
neighbour of Joan. Elaine Foley provided the music and sang a
variety of hymns. Joan Keane was laid to rest at Ahavoher
Graveyard, Knockanure beside her brother Mike who died in Jan.
1990 aged 64.
Death; Sister Joan Kirby C.P. died on June 13, 2012, at Cross
and Passion Convent Villa Pacis, Glen Road, Belfast, survived
by her sisters Eileen, Frances and Mary,her sisters in Community
and all the sisters of the Cross and Passion. Requiem Mass at
St. Matthew’s Church, Newtownards Road for Sr. Joan on June
16th, followed by Interment in Milltown Cemetery. Sr. Joan Kirby
was born at Derrindaff.

EUCHARISTIC Congress in Dublin attracted many locals during the
week and a bus load went on Sunday last to the closing ceremony
at Croke Park. All last week the media were like lost sheep
searching everywhere for trivial news and ignoring the good
news.

Looking for family of Edward Hartnett, born in Ireland around
1838, shows up on the Valle Township, Jefferson County Missouri
census in 1880 married to Mary A. Edward Hartnett was from Co
Limerick and his mother’s name was Ann Wallers;
Hartnett/Courtney family started with the marriage of John
Hartnett and Helen Courtney in Glenflesk, Kerry in 1847;
James Hartnett (1826-1890) was from County Limerick; his wife
Ellen O’Connor (1813-1898) was also form there. They married;
ended up in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. At least one daughter,
Ellen (1856-1938), who married Thomas A. Sullivan (1855-1946).
