HAPPY Christmas and a successful
New Year to all our readers,
The younger generation have many of their friends abroad and the
older generation will miss the majority of their friends who
have passed on, people in hospital, nursing homes and living
alone would like us to darken their door.
SCHOOL Variety show in Knockanure Community Centre on Friday
16th December, Called ‘The Night before Christmas’ performed by
students of Scoil Chorp Chriost Knockanure, a host of top local
entertainers joined in after the children’s show. Much time and
effort was put into the event, it is great for Parish Spirit to
see the work of all on stage and the great many in the
background who made the night memorable.
FUNDRAISER for the Nano Nagle School Tour in Mairead’s Bar on
Friday 23rd December at 9.30pm. Music by Gabriel Fitzmaurice and
the Bog Hole Boys. Spot prizes galore. Everyone welcome.
SAMARITANS Annual Collection will take place as usual on
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, December 24th/25th at
Knockanure Church, you are asked to support this worthy cause.
CHOIR; Knockanure Choir will hold a Christmas Mass practice at
8pm on Tuesday 20th. All members are requested to attend.
ACTIVE Retired day held on 12th Dec. 2011 in Knockanure was
attended by 85 people. The organisers would like to thank all
for their support, people who gave spot prizes, some of which
will be distributed at the next outing. Wishing all a Happy
Christmas and good health in 2012.

was opened by her grandfather William Collins a hundred years

DEPRESSION: Weekly meeting for sufferers of depression and
bi-polar disorder takes place in the Sacristy rooms at the rear
of St. John’s Church, Tralee every Tuesday at 8pm. Call Kate

with the work of local contributors, thanks again to Tom O

ADORATION: Moyvane Sun. 4.00pm to 5.00pm, Wed. 10.00am to
7.00pm and Knockanure Tues. 10.00am to 6.00pm; Eucharistic
Adoration Listowel, Sunday from 3 to 6pm and will take place
each Sunday of Advent in the Adoration Chapel also on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays after 10.30am Mass till 7pm. Abbeyfeale,

COLLECTION for Sacristan Margaret will be made again this year
on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Your contribution last year
was very much appreciated. Margaret carries out her duty as
Sacristan on a voluntary basis; she received no pay from the
parish.
MASS: Listowel Christmas Day Mass 9.00 a.m. & 11.00 a.m,
with Listowel Parish Choir & 12.30 p.m with Listowel Parish
Folk Group. Mass Duagh, Sat 24th at 9pm and Sunday 25th Mass at
11.30am.
DEATH took place unexpectedly of Con Shine of Glin Road, Moyvane
on 14th December 2011, he is survived by his sister Bridie
Shine. Requiem Mass for Con Shine was celebrated by Fr Lucid
P.P. at Moyvane Church on Sunday 18th December 2011, Elaine
Foley assisted by Laura Stack sang the hymns. Con was laid to
rest at Ahavoher Graveyard, Knockanure , surrounded by family
and friends on a mild December day. Con was born August 1936,
was son of Dan Shine of Moyvane and Nora Stack of Skehenerin.
His mother died when he was 3 years old, his step mother was Liz
Flaherty.
