BIG Crowds attended Listowel Races from Wednesday last till they
were cancelled on Saturday. Weather though showery at times, was
tolerable. Best dressed lady was won by Maria Murphy a daughter
of Christy and Imelda Murphy of Bedford, last years winner was
Catherine Keane and the 2009 winner was another local woman
Olivia Buckley. Wrenboy night was reasonably attended, the shows
were entertaining and lively, one heavy shower around 9pm,
scattered everyone, but the traditional follower of the wren
returned to watch some talented performances. A note of sadness
this year as we remember Michael Dowling.
DAN Keane celebrated his birthday on 17th Sept. he was born in
1919. He received many birthday cards, Dan is still helping
people find their ancestors.
