PARISH: Workshop for Parish Pastoral Councils (PPC) will be held in St Michael’s College, Listowel, on Tuesday, January 17th starting at 8.00 pm. All members of Parish Pastoral Councils in the Listowel Pastoral Area are welcome to attend. The workshop’s purpose is to clarify the role of the Pastoral Council, explore what is required for a Pastoral Council to work effectively, and identify how parishes in the Pastoral Area can support one another.

Pastoral Council meets 7th Feb. at 8pm. Items to be discussed to the Office by Feb. 4th please.

ST PIO: Fr. Brian Shortall the Capuchin Franciscan Order Superior in Ireland, is coming to Castleisland to present Fr. Brick with a glove worn by St. Pio. The presentation will be made on January 17th at the 7:30pm evening devotions.

Recovery Haven We now taking names for our latest online course, ‘Building Better Caregivers’ due to begin in January which will offer valuable support and practical advice to those supporting a loved one through cancer treatment.

The free course, is given over 2 ½ hours, 1 day a week, for 6 weeks and will cover topics such as communication skills; staying well and getting a good night’s sleep; tools for managing fatigue; dealing with challenging emotions and behaviour. Billy was a heavy metal rocker fanatic all his life. Always bestowing his love of rock (heavy rock) to both family and friends. Billy was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in October 2021 and whilst he faced this disease with tremendous courage and strength, he passed away on February 17th 2022. He spent a time within the Palliative Care Unit in UHK where the care, support and treatment were out of this world. He received the best care from the best team. His family will be forever grateful to this incredible team for what they did for Billy. This event is a fitting tribute to Billy and supports an amazing cause. Unfortunately so many have been touched by this awful disease and this facility in Tralee, like so many more around the country, has offered patients superior patient care always. All proceeds from this rock night go towards the Palliative Unit, UHK. We appreciate your support!

ALZHEIMER’S: The U. S. Food and Drug Administration granted approval to Leqembi—a new drug from Eisai and Biogen—for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The drug—risks of side effects like brain bleeding and swelling—the drug will be priced at $26,500 per year.

BISMARCK, Dak., Dec 19.—The Indian Commission returned from Fort Berthold yesterday, having concluded a satisfactory agreement with the Gros Ventres, Mandan and Arickaree Indians, who agree to cede all their reservation north of the forty-eighth parallel: also, the larger portion of the territory lying between the Missouri river and Fort Buford reservation.
