PREMIERE of ‘Pilgrim Hill’  at the Tintean Theatre Ballybunion on Friday October 14th at 8pm. It highlights the life of a bachelor Farmer and his struggles in rural Ireland. This is Gerard Barretts first full length film following the success of ‘The Valley of Knockanure’. The film was shot on location in Brosna, Ballylongford and Athea.

RETIREMENT: Sergeant Mike Sheehy retired on 30th September and in recognition to his service to the Parish over the past number of years a presentation was made to him on behalf of the people of the parish in the Marian Hall immediately after Mass on Saturday 1st October, 2011.

PARENTS: Meeting of the Parents of both Knockanure and Moyvane of the Children receiving their First Holy Communion this year will take place in Moyvane School on Thursday 6th October at 8.30pm.

DEATHS: Richard V Cantillon of Lisselton and San Francisco, died aged 83 years on 22nd September 2011; Bill O Donnell, died in Syracuse on September 20th 2011, he was born 1915 to George O Donnell of Lisselton and Catherine Dillon;  Philip Hannon the 11th Archbishop of New Orleans has died aged 98 Years, his 1963 Eulogy at the requiem mass for JFK is on the internet, he was the second last surviving US bishop who attended all four sessions of Vatican 11. The Archbishops funeral is on Oct. 6th 2011.

DEATH  took place of Mossie Culhane of Leitrim, Middle, Moyvane, on Sept. 28, 2011. Mossie is survived by his brother Paud and sisters Rita, Maureen and Eileen. Following Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Lucid, P.P. at the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on Saturday October 1st 2011, Mossie Culhane was laid to rest at Ahavoher Cemetery, Knockanure beside his father John Culhane who died June 1970 and his mother Margaret Walsh, also in the grave is his brother Sean who died in 2007.
