LETTER in The Royal Society archives  from Bernard O Connor to Sir Charles Walgrave , published around 1740 in Paris, giving an account of a human skeleton that looks like it had been carved from a single piece of wood , the backbone was solid without joints, only part of it was available, if the rest was similar the person would be a semi circle , the bones were found in a churchyard and appear to belong to an old man. Another Paper by the Royal Society written in 1787 by Mr Jenner describes the Cuckoo in Glostershire from arrival about 17th April and leaving first week in July. No Cuckoo eggs could be found before middle of May. They put their eggs in nest of hedge sparrow, water wagtail, tit lark, yellow hammer, green linnet and whin chat, they generally put them in the nest of the hedge sparrow. A single cuckoo always remains the sole occupant of the nest, even two cuckoos are in a nest one throws out the other, He made several experiments and observations including putting discarded chicks back into the nest and finding that the cuckoo loses ability to dump chicks as it gets older and also found that he could hatch an egg under the young cuckoo.
