THOUGHT:” A difficult crisis can be more readily endured if we
retain the conviction that our existence holds a purpose – a
cause to pursue, a person to love, a goal to achieve.” John
Maxwell.
PAYER for Vocations
Lord Jesus, you said to your disciples: “
The harvest indeed is great,
but the labourers are few”.
We ask that we may know
and follow the vocation
to which you have called us.
We pray for those called to serve:
those whom you have called,
those you are calling now,
and those you will call in the future.
May they be open and responsive
To the call of serving your people,
Amen.
SEARCHING FOR LEAHY RELATIONS: Rose Ryan has gotten in touch to
ask for help with her search for her relations; “My descendants
would have originated in Abbeyfeale and Newmarket c.1800 and my
Grandfather was John Leahy (1830-1893) married to Mary Buckley
(1833-1927) and he was born in Rockhill, Co. Cork and some of
his siblings were born in Abbeyfeale. His parents were John
Leahy (1790) and Mary Keane (1795). In my research I came across
notes from a genealogist employed by a relative in the USA a few
years ago which states the following: – Another reference to the
early Leahy family in this area was in the Newtonsandes (a
genealogy website named after a catholic parish of the same name
just north of Brosna). The site lists a wide variety of current
and historical facts about the people and events of the area.
The 11 April 2007 issue refers to an article in a booklet by Fr.
William Casey Comoradh an Cheid, “The Leahy Family Life and
times in Abbeyfeale since their first ancestor left Tournafulla
c.1796 is well documented. It is this issue I am hoping to find
and read. Would you have any idea where I could possibly find
this. In recent times, my grandfather would have been from
Patrickswell in Co. Limerick. Many thanks for your help.” If any
reader can help Rose please contact her on [email protected]
