RACES: Listowel had great racing days, people for generations have remarked on the fact that the weather is always suitable for the September racing in Listowel. This year the Amusements which were held near the Community Centre in Listowel were a bit congested with fewer machines available, it may be great for parents, but the youth were less than satisfied. The Wrenboy night on Friday 19th of Sept. was a beautiful night, the weather was marvellous and the shows were a credit to all the volunteers, congratulations to Fr Moore and the Carrigkerry Wrenboys who were champions. The Wrenboy Competition contributes more to local culture that all the glossy brochures coming from the experts. Racing again in Tralee Sept. 30th .Spare a thought for farmers had extra work during the fine days to try and catch up jobs delayed by the wet weather, most people in the public sector have no worries about work and can plan their way around things.
NEW Moon on September 29th, hope the fine weather continues into October, some farmers have a high tax bill this year due to the rise in the price of milk last year, the higher costs and the bad weather and the tax bill will leave many with an undue burden
MATCH: There was a big exodus from the Parish last weekend to attend the match, Kerry fans were greatly disappointed, many from North Kerry, must be very weary after spending the week at Listowel Races and then travel to Dublin to have their hopes deflated.

MASS for Bill Hudson was celebrated in Moyvane Church on Sunday last. William J. Hudson, Jr., was 85 years old, of Palm Beach, FL, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Born in Maryland, he joined the Navy in November 1942 and attended the U.S. Naval Japanese School in Boulder, CO. he was self-taught in Sanskrit. Bill served as a translator and interpreter for repatriation of Japanese prisoners of war. Following the War, he moved to Florida. Bill Hudson=E2=80=99s many books on the Hudson Family are available in Listowel, Tralee and the National Library. His collection of language books and name origin books were the largest collections of their kind in the State of Florida. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Wampole Hudson; his brother, Dr. Paul C. Hudson, retired neurosurgeon; and sister, Mrs. Carroll Swarm, both of Maryland. Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Lowe Hudson. A Funeral Mass was on Friday, September 5, 2008 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Palm Beach, Florida, Bill Hudson was laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
