PADRE PIO EVENING MASS: will take place in St. Mary’s Church Listowel  Thursday evening 25th at 7.00 p.m.  beginning with the Rosary followed by mass and Benediction.

DINNER FOR PRIESTS HOME FROM ABROAD: The annual dinner for priests who are at home on holiday will take place on Wednesday 31st July at 6.30 p.m.in the Parish Centre, Church of the Resurrection, Park Road, Killarney. Attendance can be confirmed to Diocesan Office at 066 31168.

BISHOP: Fr. Ray Browne from Athlone was ordained Bishop of Kerry Diocese on Sunday 21st July at 3pm, in St Mary Cathedral, Killarney. Several from the parish attended the ordination and celebrations afterwards. We look forward to meeting him.  .Video of day on knockanurelocal

SEARCH: What do you know about Catherine Kennelly and John Walsh? I did not find their Marriage but I did find 8 children born to them from 1806 to 1837.  It makes sense to me that my Great Grandfather would be named after his father’s father which was Patrick. Please tell me what you know.

DEATH took place on 8th July 2013 of  Anna Mai Sweeney, nee Quinn of 15 Hillside Drive, Athea. She was predeceased by her husband Pat Sweeney who was a native of Moyvane. Anna Mai is survived by daughters Joanne and Breda, sons Patrick, Dara and Jonathan, sisters, brother, mother-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Requiem Mass for Anna Mai Sweeney was celebrated in Athea Church on 10th July 2013. Afterwards Anna Mai was laid to rest beside her husband in Holy Cross Cemetery.

DEATH has taken place of John-Joe O’Donnell, Kilmoylan, Shanagolden and formerly of Carhoona, Tarbert and Cherrygrove, Croom, husband of the late Mary. He was laid to rest in Kilmoylan Cemetery on Thursday 4th July 2013.

DEATH took place 17th July 2013 unexpectedly of Johnny McEnery of Knockanure, Moyvane and Caherdown, Listowel. He is survived by his wife Helen Godley, father of Martha, Edel, Eoghan and Muireann, much loved Granddad of Lucy-Kate, Caoilfhionn and Isabella, brother of Pat Joe and sister of Mary, he was predeceased by his brother Denis. Requiem Mass for Johnny McEnery was celebrated in Listowel Church on Saturday 20 July 2013, by Fr Lawlor assisted by Canon O Connor, Fr Lucid, Fr O Callaghan, Fr Sheehy, Sean Ahern sang the hymns and Liam Hanrahan a class mate and team mate of Johnny gave a few words in remembrance.  Johnny McEnery was laid to rest afterwards in John Paul 11 cemetery,  Listowel. Johnny was son of Pat McEnery and Margaret Buckley of Tubbertoureen, Moyvane was born 70 years ago, Married Helen 1968. Joined the AI Service 1979 and moved to Listowel 1990.

Johnny played his part in 1963 Moyvane team who won the North Kerry Championship and North Kerry League and also won the Frank Sheehy Tournament. The 1963 Moyvane team included,  Eddie Stack (goal), Stevie Stack, P.J.Kennelly, Paudie Hanrahan, Brendan Sheehy, John McEnery, Timmy Hanrahan, Liam Hanrahan (Capt.), Maurice Stack, Des Broderick, Bernie O’Callaghan, Brendan Broderick, Tommy Mulvihill, Michael Hennessy, Colm O’Callaghan.

DEATH took place on 3rd July 2013 of Kathy O Donovan of Boston and late of Ballygurteen, Clonakilty.  Kathy was daughter of the late William and Kathleen O’Donovan. Survived by her siblings,  Eily (Twomey), Dan, Noelle (O’Callaghan of Moyvane), John, Barry, Frank, Flor, Mary (Nyhan), Marian (O’Shea) and Carmel (Duggan. Requiem Mass for Kathy O Donovan was celebrated at St Mary’s Church, Rossmore on 10th July 2013. Kathy was laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

YOUTH  2000 Summer Festival, Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th August, 2013. BOOK: Newcastle West Golf Club launched their 75th Anniversary Book. The launch was performed by Jimmy Deenihan, on 7th July 2013  The 110 page book was printed by Fitzsimons Printers and  is full of interesting articles and photographs.
