CLOTHES Collection will take place on Thursday 28th February between 12 – 4pm at the Community Centre, Moyvane. Bags can also be dropped off on Wednesday 27th between 6 – 8pm.

All funds raised will go towards running Moyvane Ladies Football Club.

DEATH took place  Saturday, February 16, 2013 Kathleen Kennelly  nee Anglim of  Shanaway, Tarbert, Co Kerry. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Dermot and is Survived by sons, Con and Dan, daughters Mai and Joan and grandchildren,  Requiem Mass for Kathleen Kennelly was celebrated at St Mary’s Church, Tarbert on Monday 18 February 2013, Burial afterwards in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane.

DEATH took place on 17 February 2013 of Eileen Larkin who was born at  Rathea, Listowel and was  Retired Public Health Nurse, Ballybunion. Requiem Mass for Eileen was celebrated on 19th February 2013 in St. Bridget’s Church, Duagh. Her body was donated to Medical Science, University College Cork.

DEATH has taken place of Maureen Lyons nee Barry, Sandhill Road, Ballybunion, Aras Mhuire Nursing Home, Listowel and late of Derry, Listowel. Maureen was predeceased about 24 years ago by her husband Jim Lyons who was also a native of Derry, Listowel. Maureen was daughter of Paddy Barry and Bridget McCoy. Her siblings included Kit, Bridie, Phil, Pat Joe, Tom, Vincent, Stephen, Mike , Liz and Peg. Requiem Mass for Maureen took  place at St. Mary’s Church, Listowel on 21 February 2013. Maureen Lyons was laid to rest beside her husband in St. John’s Cemetery, Ballybunion, she was aged 92 years.

A casket with the relic of Don Bosco has been on pilgrimage throughout the world since the 5th of April 2009 to prepare to celebrate the bi-centenary of Don Bosco’s birth (1815-2015).

The casket has already visited Italy, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Perù and Ecuador. It then travelled to Columbia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Porto Rico, Haiti, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, the United States and Canada. In 2011 it visited Japan, Indonesia, Australia, China, Taiwan, India, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. In 2012 it has visited Uganda, Ruanda, Sudan, Togo, Mozambique, Ghana and Spain.

KERRYMAN: Aug 3rd 1935 edition photo and details of ordination of Fr John Reidy OSA son of M J Reidy of New Brighton, State Island NY. Fr Reidys school friend Fr Edward Kenealy of the Society of the Fathers of Mercy was in attendance. M J Reidy wrote several books, born at Cordal went to USA in 1903, as young man spent most of his time in Islandanny, Duagh with his mothers people the O Connor Family of Rathoran, he was also creamery manager in several Kerry Creameries including Ashgrove, Kenmare, Kilgarvan. In America he was top man in his job.

Joan o Sullivan of Derra Asdee, was secretary of Catholic Film Society of London, she had a brother Fr Michael O Sullivan who worked in America.

Death of garda Pat O Connor of Toor, Duagh died aged 39 years was serving at Dromsna, Co Leitrim, he was buried at Duagh.

Died Patrick O Connor of Lenamore, father of ohn martin O Connor a GAA and Republican supporter. Tom O Connor in USA played with Kerry Juniors.
