EUCHARISTIC Congress 2010 theme “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another.” Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said the theme was chosen because the celebration of the congress coincides with the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of Vatican Council II. The first International Eucharistic Congress was held by Pope Leo XIII in Lille, France in 1881. Dublin had a congress in 1932 which is still recalled by the few who still remember the event.

DEATH has taken place of Mai Costelloe nee Scanlon on Saturday 19th of September `09, at Knockfadda, Roundwood, Co Wicklow. Mai was predeceased by her Husband Noel Costelloe and is survived by her daughters, Mary, Angela and Patricia and Sisters Sr. Eileen Scanlon and Betty O Connor. Mai was predeceased by siblings Fr John Scanlon and Sr. Josie Scanlon. Following Requiem Mass at to St. Joseph’s Church, Newtownmountkennedy, Mai Costelloe was laid to rest at Kilmurray Cemetery on Wednesday 23rd of September `09. Mai Costelloe nee Scanlon was born at Moher, Moyvane over 90 years ago to John Francis Scanlon who had a shop in Moyvane Village before his marriage to Ellen Shanahan of Moher.
