CHRISTMAS from Fr. Brendan: Best wishes and Blessings to all Parishioners for this feast of Christmas. Thank you all for your contributions during the Year. There are many and varied but each is special and appreciated, helping us as a community of believers. My hope and prayer is that God Blesses each person with joy, peace and light throughout the festive season and beyond. May each know God’s incarnate love in a new way.

WALK: Moyvane Development Association, Grab your runners/walking shoes and come and join us on Wednesday December 27th for our Fun Run/Walk. This is a great opportunity to come out and meet everyone over the festive season, while getting some fresh air & exercise! Registration 11am -11.50am.

SCHOOL: Knockanure National School Parents Association Split the Bucket first draw on will be held on 25th of Jan 2024. Pupils from Knockanure School held a Carol Singing session on Wednesday 20th of Dec, at Knockanure church, the church was crowded with students, parents and relatives. A great performance, which was greatly appreciated by all. Thanks to all involved in the preparations and great credit to the young performers.

WALK Ballylongford- Tidy Towns fundraising run/walk takes place on St. Stephen’s Day at 1pm. Registration is at 12 o’clock for a choice of 6k or 10k run/walk. Refreshments in the parish hall afterwards.

DUAGH LIVE CRIB: The Memory Room along with Duagh’s Live Crib. Open Daily from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm. Thanks to Duagh Tidy Towns Committee.

PARISH Property Insurance; Please take a moment to reflect on this and, where appropriate, give your response should they be insured for reinstatement or for a modernised version? Clearly reinstatement entails a more costly premium. The Parish Office will be closed from Fri. 22nd Dec.’23 to Thurs. 4th Jan.’24.

CONGRATULATIONS to 4th and 6th Class pupils from Murhur NS who won the Best Overall 3d Printing School Award in the Taiscéalaí: 3D Printing Education for Primary Schools Programme in Mullingar recently. Taiscéalaí, which means “explorer” in Irish. The awards were held at the Irish Manufacturing Research, Science Park in Mullingar on December 11 2023.

BEST WISHES to Philomena O Connor of Glountane and Brian Kiely of Moyvane who were married at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Coradal on Saturday 16th of December 2023, Fr. Brick officiated. Maid of Honour was Sheila Maria Scannell and Best man was Kieran Kiely

DEATH on Monday 18th December 2023 of Nora Lynch (nee Flaherty) Glasha, Athea, and formerly of Gortdromagouna, Knockanure, in her 104th year. Predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Timothy & Hannah Flaherty, brothers Michael, Tim, William, Patrick, John & Tom, her sisters Mary and Hannah. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Jim and John (New York) and daughter Hannah O’Connor, (Glenquin, Strand), granddaughters Angela & Yvonne and grandson Jason, daughters in law Concepta and Bridie-Ann, son-in-law Diarmuid, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Requiem Mass for Nora was celebrated at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Athea, on Thursday 21st of December. Burial afterwards in in Holycross Cemetery, Athea.
