SEISIUN summer show begins at the Arms Hotel on Wednesday July 1st at 9pm and the Templeglantine Seisiun opens on Thursday July 2nd and continues weekly till August.

GREAT excitement in Knockanure school on Monday last when a dozen new pupils enrolled for the New School Year. Class teacher Breda Kiely will be very busy for the coming year.

CONGRATULATIONS to Maurice Stack of Cahirdown, Listowel who was recently given a certificate from Galway University to mark the 50th anniversary of his graduation there. Maurice has a host of cousins and friends in the Parish.

HAPPY Birthday to Paddy McElligott who recently marked the occasion with his wife Christine and son Christopher and friends.

BEST Wishes to Eoghan and Nollaig McEnery, Listowel and Knockanure on the birth of their baby girl Lucy Kate recently, first grandchild to Johnny and Helen McEnery and also first grandchild to Mary McCarthy of Finuge. Helen McEnery taught for many years at Knockanure National School.

EAGLES Struck Gold; The North Kerry Eagles Special Olympics Club won four gold and four silver medals at the Mardyke on June 21st `09, competing in the Munster Regional Finals. The following got a gold and silver each; Johnny Mulvihill, Sinead Joy, Edward Twomey and Tom Windle.

CFR: Athea Community First Responders will be hosting its first AGM on the 17th July at the Gables function room followed by social event from 9pm onwards. All CFR’s past and present are invited to attend.

TURF drying is making great progress over the past week. Most of the silage is now harvested and some hay was saved also.

SPENT: Tralee Town Council spent big money putting bright coloured paving in the Small Square in the town and now they have to use chemicals and high power washer to keep it clean.

DEATH took place of Bill Foran of Tullamore, Listowel on June 19th 2009, he is survived by his brothers John and Pat, sisters Josie and Mary. Following Requiem Mass at Ballydonoghue Church on Monday June 22nd `09 , Bill Foran was laid to rest with his ancestors in Murhur Churchyard.

Death took place on June 13th `09 of Colm LEAHY of Ballinascaula, Bulgaden, Kilmallock. Son of Siobhán Reidy and Brendan Leahy and brother of Henry, Bernard and Bill. Following Requiem Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bulgaden on Tuesday June 16th Colm Leahy was laid to rest in the nearby cemetery.

MASS for 6th Class pupils at Knockanure N.S. was celebrated on Tuesday last by Fr Lucid, school choir sang the hymns and readings were done by 6th class, Daniel, Chloe, Mollie and David. Principal Julienne Donegan had the children well prepared for the occasion.

MURAL composed by Marie Brennan art teacher is now on view on the inside of the local school boundary wall. Pupils from the school assisted in the artwork.
