PARISH RETREAT EVENING IN ARDFERT:  On Wed 9th March, our annual Parish evening retreat will take place in Ardfert Retreat Centre from 7.30pm to 10pm.  A donation of €15 is made to Ardfert Retreat Centre.  Those interested in going please contact Nodie on 49352, Julia on 49301 or Eileen on 087/9313912.  If we have sufficient numbers a bus will leave Moyvane Church at 6.30pm.  Fr. 24 HOURS FOR THE LORD, LISTOWEL celebration  taking place from Friday night  (March 4th ) beginning with the First Friday Mass at 7.00 p.m.  It will continue with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church right throughout the night and ending before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening (March 5th ) at 7.00 p.m. Fr. RUN: Tralee International Marathon; The date of the event is being switched to Saturday 12th March 2016 after consolation with various stakeholders in Tralee. Rachel Stokes of Kerry Crusaders will be running the RTK 40 Mile Ultra, the Tralee 100K and the Kerry 24H this year. Starting in March she will be writing a column for RTK about her training.

BEST wishes to Eileen Holly, Greystones who celebrated her 100th birthday on 19 Feb 2016. Eileen Quill was born in Chapel Street, Tarbert on 19 Feb 1916. Her father was Robert Quill who was principal of Tarmon’s Boys National School from 1909 and 1937. Her mother Kathleen Quill was principal of Tarbert Girls National School from 1908 to 1936. Eileen married her neighbour Maurice Holly of Chapel Street, who died on 25 December at the age of 91 years.

SCHOOLS: There is a newly developed proposal in Irish education to have a separate special subject called Education in Religious beliefs and Ethics. This would run as well as any RE teaching set up by the patron (eg Catholic RE).  A national agency tasked with developing a new curriculum opened a consultation on the proposals – it will continue into spring 2016.

A police sergeant was badly wounded and several civilians were injured in disorders at Killarney. The police charged the crowds with drawn batons several times before order was restored.
