BEST wishes to Eileen Holly, Greystones who celebrated her 100th birthday on 19 Feb 2016. Eileen Quill was born in Chapel Street, Tarbert on 19 Feb 1916. Her father was Robert Quill who was principal of Tarmon’s Boys National School from 1909 and 1937. Her mother Kathleen Quill was principal of Tarbert Girls National School from 1908 to 1936. Eileen married her neighbour Maurice Holly of Chapel Street, who died on 25 December at the age of 91 years.

A police sergeant was badly wounded and several civilians were injured in disorders at Killarney. The police charged the crowds with drawn batons several times before order was restored.
