THOUGHT: When people love each other, they are content with very little. When we have light and joy in our hearts, we don’t need material wealth. The most loving communities are often the poorest. If our own life is luxurious and wasteful, we can’t approach poor people. If we love people, we want to identify with them and share with them.

OUT OF THE SHADOWS.
By M. M. Warner.
When the shadows of your heart assemble
In memory’s sombre halls,
And the skeleton of life’s regrets
Your aching heart appals;
. When your very soul seems freezing
For the warmth of a hope that’s lost.
Like a scuttled ship that’s cast away
On angry waves storm tossed;
When your heart is full of sorrow,
When fears oppress your mind;
When friends and those you love the best
Seem cruel and unkind;
Then seek some weary brother,
Whose hope in life is dim,
And soothe his fevered, throbbing b’row;
Relight the hope in him.
As you gently lead him upward
To realms of hope’s bright light,
You both have left the shadows
And the world again seems bright.
