ADVENT WREATH
Advent is a time of waiting, hoping and preparing for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas. The Advent wreath is a tradition of reminding us to prepare with prayer, penance and faith. The circular wreath reminds us of God’s infinity and his infinite love for us. The evergreen leaves are a symbol of hope. The purple candles remind us to pray and do good deeds during Advent. The pink candle (lit on the 3rd Sunday) is a symbol of the Joy we experience through our faith in Jesus. Lighting the candles in sequence each week marks the journey through Advent into Christmas as we prepare to open our hearts to welcome Jesus.
We pray that God’s blessing may rest on our Advent wreath and on each one of us as we light our first candle this week.
