Knockanure Notes — 2nd February, 2014

ACTIVE Retirement Day at Knockanure Community Centre, takes place on Monday 10th February 2014.Come and enjoy a hot meal followed by music and dance.    All Welcome.  If attending please ring office on 068 49799. New members especially welcome.

TRAINING for walking members will be held every Tuesday at 8pm in the sportsfield, Moyvane And for running members at 8pm on Wednesdays. Training on Saturday will be divided into two sessions, 8am and 9.30am.

AGM of Parish Liturgy Group and Parish Pastoral Council was held on last Tuesday 28th January 2014, in The Marian Hall Moyvane at 8.00p.m.  The following were elected officers:  Chairperson: Margaret Carmody, V. Chair. John Corbett. Secretary: Margaret Horgan, Ass. Sec. Jacqueline Stackpoole, members elected onto the Finance Committee were, Andrew Rogan and Noreen Roche.  Any parishioners who would like to help out in our parish and join, please come along to our next meeting on the 11th February at the Presbytery 8.00p.m.

RENEWAL: Eucharistic Adoration: A parish renewal of Eucharistic Adoration will take place on the week-end of 15th /16th February in both Churches. Adoration Moyvane Sun. 4.00pm to 5.00pm, Wed. 10.00am to 7.00pm. Knockanure Tues. 10.00am to 6.00pm.

WIN: Tarbert Comprehensive girls won the Munster final on January 14th beating Carrigaline 3-10 to 1-12. On the way to the final they beat schools in Castleisland, Milltown, Lisdoonvarna, and Rockwell.

MATTHEW’S GOSPEL Fr. Seamus O’Connell, Professor of Sacred Scripture at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth and a priest of the Diocese of Kerry will explore over two nights – Jan 31st and Feb 7th, A Gospel for a New People: Discovering New Life with Matthew’s Gospel in St. Brendan’s Pastoral Centre, Rock Street. TROCAIRE Lenten campaign focus this year is Water, and we will be looking at projects in Malawi. Trocaire would like to thank most sincerely for donations to the value of €158,052.34 received from the Diocese of Kerry for the 2013 Lenten Campaign and Donations to the value of €153,595.05 to the shared Philippines and Syria emergency appeal.
