ACTIVE Retirement Day at Knockanure Community Centre.
This social day runs every second Monday of each month.
The next social day for the Active Retirement takes place on Monday 11th February 2013. Come and enjoy a 4 Course meal with music and dance. 10 euro.  All welcome. Ring office on 068 49799. New members especially welcome just come along.

MEETING A Meeting of the Liturgy Group/PPC will be held in the Presbytery on Friday 8th February at 8pm.

The Public Meeting for organising an event to celebrate “The Gathering Ireland 2013” will be held at 9pm on February 5th in the Marian Hall.

CLOTHES Collection will take place on Thursday 28th February between 12 – 4pm at the Community Centre, Moyvane. Bags can also be dropped off on Wednesday 27th between 6 – 8pm.
All funds raised will go towards running Moyvane Ladies Football Club.

CAMP for school going children will take place at the Listowel Family Resource Centre on Feb. 14th /15th from 9.30am to 1.30pm daily, details from 068 23584.

CONGRATULATIONS to Abbeyfeale School girls who won the All Ireland Schools Cup in U19A Basketball League final recently.

CELEBRATE with Duagh GAA from 3 to 5pm on Feb. 7th at the Duagh Centre, their Victory Social is on Feb. 23rd.

BEST wishes to the local girls Community Games U15 Badminton Team who will play in the Munster final on March 31st. The boys U15 team won silver in their group.

DEATH has taken place of Marie Lyons nee Buckley of Ballyloughlan, Glin  and formerly of Main Street, Moyvane. Marie was predeceased by her husband Percy  and is survived by son John, daughter Margaret, brother Fr. Michael, daughter in law Anna, son in law John-Paul, grandchildren Jeremiah, Marian, and Seamus. Requiem Mass for Marie was celebrated at Church of the Immaculate Conception Glin on Tuesday 29th January 2013. Burial afterwards in Kilfergus cemetery Glin Marie was predeceased by  parents  Michael Buckley and Nora Shine both of Moyvane Parish and siblings, Joe who died last week, Liam who died in 2009, Fr Denis, Con, John, Donie, Paddy, Ned and Kit.

DEATH has occurred of Brendan Keane of Clounprohus, Moyvane. Brendan is Survived by his wife Bridie, son David, daughter Catríona, brothers Jerry, Teddy, Mike, Liam, P.J. and Eddie, uncles Tony, John, Pat and Tom, and aunts Mary and Kathleen. Requiem Mass for Brendan was celebrated at The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on  Saturday 2nd of February 2013, Brendan Keane was laid to rest afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Knockanure. Brendan was son of Kit Dunne and Donie Keane.

DEATH took place on 29th January 2013 of Sr. Ethna Quille Formerly of Derrindaff, Duagh and the Mercy Convent, Rosscarbery. She is survived by her brother John.  Her brother William Quille died in October 2012. Requiem mass for Sr. Ethna was celebrated at St. Fachtna’s  Parish Church, Rosscarbury. Sr. Eithna was laid to rest in the Convent Cemetery, Rosscarbury, Co Cork.

Sr. Ethna Quille former Maths teacher at Mt. St. Michael, Rosscarbury. The school was founded in 1894 by the Mercy Order, In 1964 the school became co-educational and at the same time the boarding facilities became available in the Convent. Students boarded from all over Ireland and from further afield. It was an ideal for students from the nearby coastal islands like Cape Clear.

Argus Melbourne of Aug. 1912 carries death of Michael McElligott on August 14th 1912, he was husband of Mary McElligott and youngest son of late Tom and Catherine McElligott of Moyvane.

Courier Mail Brisbane Queensland, 23rd Sept. 1948 reports  death of Con Mulvihill at his home in Wilston on 15th September 1948, he was husband of Annie and father of Rita, Mrs O Sullivan. Con was born at Aughrim Newtownsandes.

South Australia Register Adelaide,4th May 1884 publishes the marriage of Mortimer Gallivan of Patch , Duagh, he was 4th son of the late James Gallivan. He married Margaret 3rd daughter of Bernard Smyth of Pine Creek, Laura. Priest at the wedding was Fr. O Dowling SJ.

WIFI: Dublin City Council launched free wifi hotspots across the city,  areas include Smithfield, Civic Offices Amphitheatre at WoodQuay, Temple Bar Square, Henry Street, Merrion Square and Grafton Street. It is presently available at the Civic Offices Amphitheatre in Wood Quay, St Patrick’s Park and Barnardo’s Square.

LEGION of Mary, are preparing to celebrate the five hundredth meeting of the council, Kerry Comitium on Sat.23rd. Feb. The Sacrifice of the Mass at 2.30p.m. in the Church of the Resurrection, Park Rd., Killarney. Fr. Eamonn McCarthy C.C., Freemount, will give the homily. He works tirelessly for the spread of the Legion and for the Cause of our founder, Br. Frank Duff. Afterwards, refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre, Park Rd.Fr. Eamonn will again conduct an ‘Open Forum’, “Where is the Church going to day”? Celebration will end with Concluding Legion prayers at 5pm.
