MAHONY of Kilmorna; The Irish Times gives several reports on the family, on 28th of Jan 1893 George Gun Mahony asked the Times to clarify that his brother Mr Pierce Mahony was the youngest son of the late Mr. P.K. Mahony J.P. of Kilmorna, Co Kerry, his mother was Jane daughter of the lte Mr. Robert Gun Cunningham D.L. of Mountkennedy and his first wife Elizabeth who was the only child and heir of Mr Archibald Hamilton Foulkes of Coolawinna, both of Co Wicklow. His grandfather the late Pierce Mahony of Woodlawn, Co Wicklow was J.P. for Counties Kerry and Limerick. Pierce was married to Ann Matia daughter of Mr. John Maunsell J.P. of Ballyrood, Co. Limerick.
The Times gives extensive coverage to the funeral of Mrs Pierce Mahony in the 31st July 1899 edition, she died at Warren House Sutten and was married for 22 years, following Service at St Bartholomew’s Church Dublin her remains were taken to the train at Kingsbridge where members of the Amnesty Association put the remains on the train which left at 12.30pm for Colbinstown station, then she was transferred to Ballynure Churchyard the ancient graveyard of Killeen Cormac, Grange Con. Grange Con is the seat of David Mahony. The coffin of oak, the only orientation was a brass Latin Cross from head to toe, it bore the inscription Helen Louise wife of Pierce Mahony born July 5th 1853, died July 25th 1899. Labourers from Grange Con lowered the coffin into the grave. A long list of relatives and well known people are given including Sir Arthur Vicars, William and John Redmond M. Ps, Mrs C. S. Parnell, Miss Bertha Creagh, Mr and Mrs J. J. Clancy P. D. Griffin of Listowel, a wreath was sent from Kilmorna.
DEATH has taken place recently of Frank Woodhead of Sheffield, England husband of the late Margaret Carmody of Knockanure, he is survived by his son Frank Junior, nieces and nephews in Sheffield, Swindon, Cheltenham and Margaret and John Carmody of Knockanure.

DEATH took place on April 25, 2009 of Richard Tobin of Abbeyfeale; he is survived by his wife Triona Keogh and children, brother Mattie and sisters Siobhan and Philomena, he was predeceased by his brother Cyril of Listowel. Following Requiem Mass at the Church of the Assumption, Abbeyfeale on Tuesday April 28th, Richard Tobin was laid to rest at Reilg Ida Naofa cemetery, Abbeyfeale. Richard was son of Dan Tobin and Mary Kennelly, Mary was a sister of the late James Kennelly of Gortdromagowna.

ROSARY will be said at Clounmacon Grotto on Friday nights at 8pm during May. Rosary each evening at 7.30pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Abbeyfeale. Devotion to the Blessed Virgin in May began in the 13th centaury. Visiting the blessed well on the Sundays of May was always a local tradition.
