BOOK: Ray Fennelly will launch his book based on his Abbeyfeale on line site at O Rourke’s Bar on Friday night Sept. 11th.

MEDIA: Locals were Fr Pat Ahern and Gabriel Fitzmaurice were on Radio Kerry last week. Up and coming film maker Gerard Barrett had his film about Gortaglanna shown at Tintean on Friday night last August 28th. The hall was packed to capacity, all were appreciative of the films ability to follow faithfully the account given by Con Dee, most people know the song The Valley of Knockanure but few realised the background. The official version of what happened at Gortaglanna was a complete fabrication, there was no ambush, the men that were shot were unarmed, but the activities of the IRA at the time provoked the Tans.

The IFA National Livestock Chairman Michael Doran was to provide details on the IFA campaign against the Government and Bord Snip attack on livestock farm incomes. Justin McCarthy, Livestock Editor of the Irish Farmers’ Journal was to talk on positive future for weanling and beef producers. Regional advisors from AIB Bank and Teagasc advisors will set out how farmers can deal with the financial, fodder and feed situation this autumn and winter.

PITCH: Mini all weather pitch developed in Abbeyfeale Town Park by the FAI and Limerick County Council, was aides by a grant E35,000.

ROAD Crashes claim the lives of people almost every day, thousand receive various injuries, and surely the media who hype up the dangers of Swine Flu could concentrate their energies in educating us on road safety.

LECTURE for parents and those interested in adolescence by Dr Michael Corry, Consultant Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist. Recognising thoughts, moods and behaviors in adolescents including signs of depression, suicide ideation, self-harm, eating disorders. DEATH of Ted Kennedy which occurred last week brought back many memories of the Kennedy Family, Ted was first elected to the Senate in 1962 to replace his brother John F. who caused a sensation by visiting this country in 1963. While the President was in Ireland all aspects of the Kennedy family was recalled including Brian Boru who was chief of the Kennedy Clan, they had their Seat at the Rock of Cashel. President Kennedy’s great-grandfather Kennedy arrived at East Boston in 1849 and worked as a cooper, from his mother’s side his great-grandfather Tom Fitzgerald who worked as a farm labourer for $6 a month in Massachusetts.

DEATH took place of Dan Ahern of Glin and Tralee on August 25, `09, Dan is survived by his wife Una Lee, brother Mike and sister Mary, Requiem Mass for Dan was celebrated in St John’s Church Tralee on Saturday 29th of August, he was laid to rest at Rath Cemetery, Tralee. Dan has many relations in the Parish.
