PARISH: 2nd Collection weekend 3rd & 4th June for Family Services & Accord. Confessions: Moyvane Saturday 6.45pm to 7.15pm. Eucharistic Adoration: every Tues. after 10.00am Mass to 11.30am.

Weekend May 27th & 28th Fr. Wilhad (Rosminlan Priest from Tanzania & Kenya) will do a Mission Awareness Appeal at Masses. Bishop Ray has given permission. Welcome Fr. Willy.

From June 2nd to June 28th inclusive, Fr. Brendan plans to be away, Fr. Liam O’Connell will be here. He was here last year. Welcome Fr. Liam!

Sunday Mass obligation, during Covid this was suspended but it has been reinstated since Easter. It means that all of us in good health are expected to come to Church at the weekend.

A Day of Prayer for the Synod of Bishops (October), on the Feast of the Visitation, (May 31st) Pope Francis has requested prayer. At Knock Shrine there will be 11am Prayer Service, 12 Noon Mass, 7pm Rosary & Mass, see Otherwise, let’s all keep the Pope’s request in mind on that day.

BOOK: Martin Moore ‘A Kerry Odyssey’, the story of Listowel-born John Moore, who soldiered in the Boer War and later in the Great War (1914-1918). He was one of nearly 300 Kerrymen who served with the ANZACS (Australian/New Zealand forces) at Gallipoli, The Somme and Messines.

His war exploits are included in at least ten books in New Zealand. ‘A Kerry Odyssey’ will be launched at Listowel Writers Week, Friday, June 2, 2023.

DEATH of Eileen Scanlon (née Keane), Leitrim West, Moyvane and late of Knockbrack, Knocknagoshel, on May 18th, 2023,. Eileen will be missed by her husband Timmy, daughter Josephine, sons John and Denny, daughters-in-law Caroline and Annmarie, son-in-law Johnny, grandchildren Timmy, Natasha, Sean, Ava, Darragh and Aoife, brother Denny, sisters Betty and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Mass for Eileen Scanlon was celebrated at The Church of The Assumption, Moyvane, on Wednesday, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

DEATH of Maureen Cregan (nee Hanrahan) Tieraclea, Tarbert and formerly of Aughrim, Moyvane, on May 20th 2023. Maureen, wife of the late Brendan Cregan. Survived by family John, Mary, Anne, Seamus, Denis, Thomas and Tina, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Requiem Mass for Maureen was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert, on May 25th, Interment in the adjoining Chapel Yard.

GAA: Donie Buckley- He worked under three different Mayo managers – James Horan, the joint Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes pairing, and Stephen Rochford. Buckley was the constant throughout that high-performing era, staying on-board as the ship’s chief engineer despite various captains in the wheelhouse.
