MEAL: Christmas Meal at Knockanure Community Centre for Active Retired will be held at Knockanure Community Centre  on Monday 12th December.  Mass will take place at 12 O’clock Sharp. Come and enjoy a great meal followed by music and dance.Anyone wishing to attend please ring Mary on 068 49799.

SHOW: Variety show in Knockanure Community Centre on Friday 16th December at 8pm Sharp. Called ‘The Night before Christmas’ performed by students of Scoil Chorp Chriost Knockanure, Followed by a host of top local entertainers. Proceeds on the night will go to Scoil Chorp Chriost Knockanure and Knockanure Community  Centre.

MURHUR National School, Moyvane Presents the Children in a Nativity/Variety Concert on Friday 16th at 7.30pm. Free Admission, but donations if desired on the night in aid of school.

SCHOOL: Scoil Chorp Chriost Knockanure, Our School is collecting Lee Strand milk tokens. Please collect these tokens on the milk cartons and give them to children attending the school or alternatively drop them into the school.

PRESENTATION of the Bene Merenti Medal to Mrs Sheehan took place at Mass in Moyvane church on Friday last December 2nd 2011. Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated by Fr Lucid assisted by former Parish Priests of the Parish, Fr. Nolan and Fr. Fleming. Moyvane choir sang a selection of hymns. Family members, friends and Knockanure Sacristan congratulated Margaret Sheehan following the ceremony; Shane Hanrahan gave a few words congratulating Mrs Sheehan on receiving the medal from the Pope for her pleasant and dignified attention to duty over many years, both in Moyvane and before that in England. ICA ladies and helpers provided tea and refreshments.

GAA Junior Club Football Championship Final result, Piarsaigh na Dromoda 0-15 Kildangan of Tipperary 1-05. Sun, 27th Nov in Moyvane, the local ICA provided refreshments at the match.

JOBS: World Youth Day brought over 4,500 jobs to Spain and brought E354 million to their economy. Even atheists could see the economic benefits of promoting travel to next years Eucharistic Congress in Dublin. Why is our government silent?

BOOK:  Abbeyfeale Writers Group have published their 1st edition of Musings and Ramblings .

I.C.A. ORGANIC College, The students at An tIonad Glas, Dromcollogher are busy preparing for the Christmas Fair this  Sunday, December 11th, Santa will make his annual visit to the College between 12-4pm and to celebrate there will be loads of stalls selling juices, home baking, crafts, jewellery and much more.   Every one welcome.

DEATH took place on December 2nd 2011 of Tess O Connor, nee O’Connor, Caherhayes North, Abbeyfeale, and formerly of Rylane, Duagh. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel and survived by sons Denis (Newcastle West), Seán (Limerick) and Pat, daughters Maureen (Newcastle West), Sheila (Duagh) and Joan Maria (Listowel), brothers, sister-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law. Following Requiem Mass at Abbeyfeale Church on Sunday 4th Dec. 2011, Tess O Connor was laid to rest at Reilig Ide Naofa, Abbeyfeale.

DEATH took place on November 30th 2011 of Sr. Carmel Danaher of Presentation Sisters, Kilcock, Co. Kildare and Athea, Limerick Sr. Carmel is survived by her nephew Fr. John Guiney  SJ, nephews and nieces. Following Requiem Mass at the Convent Chapel Bagenalstown  on Saturday December 2nd 2011, Sr. Carmel Danaher was laid to rest at the Assumption Cemetery, Bagenalstown. Her sister, Sr. Fidelma Danaher of the Presentation Order died in 2009, there were six children in their family.

DEATH took place on 30th November 2011 of  Fr. John Walsh O.S.A. of St Augustine’s College, Abbeyside, Dungarvan, Waterford and Late of Ballyline, Ballylongford. Requiem Mass for Fr Walsh was celebrated at  St Michael’s Church, Ballylongford on  Friday December 2nd 2011, he was laid to rest in the Walsh Family grave at Lislaughtin Churchyard.

ENROLMENT Ceremony for Knockanure children was held on Sunday last 4th Dec. 2011 at Knockanure Church, many posters and artwork of pupils and teachers were on display. The children sang hymns and all joined in to applaud them at the end of a lovely ceremony. Call to see the art display in the church during the week.
