SOCIAL Day for the Active Retirement takes place in the Knockanure centre on Monday 14th  .A great day with music and dance.  New Members Welcome. EVENTS: Moyvane Girls Football Fundraiser; All unwanted clothes, shoes, textiles, curtains needed (no pillows/duvets), but everything else. Old mobile phones also accepted. Collection date is Thursday 17th May, at the Moyvane Community Centre, anytime until 4pm; A Jumble Sale will be held at the Listowel Family Resource Centre on Wed. May 9th from 3-5pm; Alzheimer’s Careers Support Group at the Listowel Family Resource Centre held their monthly meeting on Tuesday May 8th at 7.30pm; Women’s Mini Marathon, Moyvane ‘s Hannah Enright and her sister Mary are in this year’s Women’s Mini Marathon on June 4th. All proceeds raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Facility at the Listowel Family Resource Centre. GREAT to hear the inspirational stories from Liam Lynch on WL102 last week, he talked about his loss of sight, Dan Joe Broderick whose parents were teachers at Feale View School and St Batts Well and the generations of his family who did the rounds there.

BEST wishes to Ciara Neville from Lenamore and Paul Mulvihill of Glenalappa who were married on 27th April 2012  in St Michael’s Church, Ballylongford by Fr Philip O Connell assisted by Fr Steve Kennelly. Best man was Mark Mulvihill, grooms men were Eoin, Brian and Niall Mulvihill. Bridesmaids were Carmel Neville, Breeda Cronin, Mary Theresa Buckley and Mary Mulcahy. Flower Girl was Lavena Mulvihill. The bride is daughter of Sean and Marie Neville and the grooms parents are Jeremiah Mulvihill and Nuala Mulvihill nee O Donnell.

CATHERINE Connell lived to be over 100 years, born Athea c 1818 married Tom Relihan of Duagh in 1854, their children were Mary Relihan who m Mort Daly, Bridget Relihan m Dower, Joan Relihan m Barth Enright, Catherine Relihan m Lar Harnett, Ellen Relihan m Dan Lane, Michael Relihan m Joan McMahon, and Tom Relihan m Anne Stack.

GUNMEN recently attacked worshipers in the old section of Bayero University’s campus in the city of Kano, Nigeria ,killing at least 16 people and wounding at least 22 others, A later attack in the northeast city of Maiduguri saw gunmen open fire at a Church of Christ Chapel in Nigeria, killing five people, including a pastor preparing for Communion according to witnesses.

DEATH took place on May 3rd 2012 of Jer Christopher O Carroll of Kilford Arms Hotel, Kilkenny and Moyvane Village. He was born on Little Christmas Day 58 years ago to Jeannie Mulvihill a native of Kilbaha and Jerry O Carroll a native of Knockanure. His siblings were Michael, Brendan, Con and Marita. Requiem mass for Christopher O Carroll was celebrated in Moyvane Church on Sunday May 6th by Fr Lucid and Fr Frawley and Elaine Foley sang the Hymns. Following Mass he was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard beside his parents Jerry who died 1970 and Jenny who died in 2002 aged 90 years.
