MOYVANE: North Kerry Scor na nOg Finals will be held in Moyvane on Nov. 13th at 6pm. County Semi will be held in Abbeydorney at 4pm on Nov. 20th and the County Final will be held at the Gleneagle Hotel on Dec. 4th at 2pm.

PLAY: The Boro Players Drama Group put on a great performance of “A Burglary will take Place” on Sunday night 30th Oct. 2011. The play was first produced by Moyvane Macra in 1985 and they reached the Munster Final that year in a drama competition. Four of the original cast were again acting their former parts in the recent performance, Maurice O Connell, Mike Brosnan, Tom Moore and Martin Sheehy, also taking part were, Brenda Kennelly, Jill McCarthy, Katie Galvin and Donal Leahy.

VARIETY Show  in Athea will be held on Sunday, November 13th and again on Sunday, November 20th in the Community Hall, Athea.

EU: European Court of Justice ruled recently that honey with pollen from a GM plant, may make all products made from the said honey liable to EU, GM regulations, member states are still allowed to use their discretion despite the fact that the court ruling is immediately binding. FAMINE Graveyard in Listowel, every Sunday during Nov. rosary at 3pm, Great to see so many during the week remembering their loved ones in local cemeteries. Memory Tree in the Church, helps us recall our dead and in union with the communion of saints remember all who need support.

CHANGE: Confessional Boxes in Listowel Church are being converted into side altars, one for St. Pio and the other for St. Anthony and Divine Mercy.

DEATH took place of Kathy Moran nee Morgan of Toureendonnell, Athea on 31st October 2011. Kathy aged 95, was predeceased by her husband Thomas, sons Patrick and Sean and is survived by her sons Michael and Tommy, daughters Mary, Joan and Helen. Following Requiem Mass at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Athea,  on 3rd Nov. 2011 Kathy Moran was laid to rest at Knockanure Old Churchyard.

DIED: Sr. Eucharia Leahy, Presentation Sisters, Green Island, Dunedin, New Zealand and Abbeydorney, died on 2nd November 2011 aged 99 years. Sister was professed in Ireland in 1940 and went to New Zealand in 1953 and spent the rest of her life in the same convent in New Zealand.
