VINTAGE Day in Knockanure is here again on Sunday 14th August.
We would thank anybody who would donate cakes or anything
suitable for our cake sale. All proceeds will go to the running
of the Community Centre. We thank you for donations in the past

GRAVEYARD Masses in the three cemeteries in the Parish were well
attended. We would like to thank all who prepared for the
ceremonies and the Graveyard Committee who have made some much
improvements over the past years. Many help behind the scenes
and their names are never recorded; they do it all out of
respect for the dead and love of their Church. Thanks to Fr
Lucid and Fr McMahon for celebrating Mass for us and remembering
our loved ones. The Moyvane and Knockanure choir added greatly

WEDDINGS: The marriage of Johanna Mulihill of Lower Aughrim,
Moyvane and Terence Lynch of Roscrea took place in Moyvane
church on July 30th 2011, Fr John Lucid, P.P. Moyvane
officiated. Best man was Owen lynch and Bridesmaid was Mary
Kirby. The Bride is daughter of Eddie Joe and Mary Mulvihill and
the Groom is son of Jim and Teresa Lynch.
Michelle daughter of Bill and Bridget Mulvihill of Athea married
Eoghan son of Pat and Maura Nash of Kilmorna at Athea Church on
July 30th 2011, Fr Bowen conducted the ceremony. Bridesmaids
were, Tracy Mulvihill, Diane Shine, Sharon Keane and Fiona
Twomey. Best man was Kieran Nash, groomsmen were Fergal Nash,
Billy Mulvihill and Fabien Street. Flower girl, Fay Nash and
Pageboy was Adam Somers.
Fr Donal O Connor officiated at the wedding of Sharon McCarthy
and Mike Flavin at Listowel Church on Friday 29th July 2011.
Best man was Timmy Kennelly; groomsmen were Pat and Dan Flavin
and Paul Deenihan. Bridesmaids were Samantha McCarthy, Tracy
Horan, Caroline McCarthy and Lorraine O Leary. The reception was
held at the Devon Inn Hotel. The bride is daughter of Kathleen
and the late Tom McCarthy of Listowel and the groom is son of
Michael and Noreen Flavin of Carrueragh and Listowel.
FULL Moon on Aug. 13th, the weather so far was cloudy and
misty, sunshine on rare days. The first of the blackcurrants and
apples are edible now.
ST ITA’S College Abbeyfeale was opened 13th Sept. 1937 by James
C O’Kelly who received his primary education at Springmount
Abbeyfeale and went to Rockwell college for his secondary
education, later receiving a B.A. Degree from UCD and a Higher
Diploma in Education. A week after the school opening in St
Ita’s Hall there were 24 students enrolled enough for two
classes. The teachers were Mr O Kelly and his sister Anna. In
1938 the school was moved to a house in Bridge Street,
Abbeyfeale and then had three teachers. School fees in 1945 were
£12 per year. By 1958 about 100 students were being taught in
the school .When James C O Kelly retired, his son Raymond took
over, he was followed by Denis Eggleston, Patrick Lyons, Sean O
Neiligan, Jim Tierney and the last principal was Matt O Connor.
Vice principles include, Dee Denison, Dr O Connor and David
Kennealy. St Ita’s closed on June 3rd 2011.
MEMORIAL is being erected to Samuel Scott age 15, who fell to
his death while building the Titanic.

DEATH took place on July 31st 2011 of Sr. Nora Buckley of the
Presentation Convent, Tralee, she was a native of Fossa,
Killarney.
DEATH occurred on August 1st 2011 of Tom Geoghegan of Grouse
Lodge, Kilcolman, Ardagh. Tom is survived by his wife Tess
Pelican, son Stephen and daughter Joanne. Requiem Mass for Tom
Geoghegan was celebrated at Kilcolman Church on 4th August, he
was laid to rest in Kilbradren Cemetery.

a home produce sale outside Abbeyfeale Church on Sunday, August

EMIGRANTS: The Annual Church Gate Collection for the Kerry
Emigrant Support Services will take place at all Masses on 13th
and 14th of August. In 2005 we completed a residential centre in
Tralee to rehabilitate and integrate returned emigrants in Co.
Kerry, costing over €500,000. Due to your generosity we bring
between 30 or 40 people back to the Towers in Ballybunion for a
6 day break each year.
