WALK Saturday 2nd February, 2013 will be the 50th Anniversary [day and date] of the last Limerick-Tralee daily scheduled passenger train and to mark this significant historic day the GST will host another walk at 2.15pm from Abbeyfeale to Duagh village. This will include a mile of an as yet undeveloped section in Co.Kerry so waterproof footwear/ wellingtons may be required.

BIG Crowds attended the Christmas Charity swims, weather being mild helped till you hit the cold water. See youtube for video.

BUS Service to the National Coursing Meeting on February 2nd 3rd and 4th, will pick up passengers in Abbeyfeale and along the route.

BEST Wishes to Celine Kennelly of  Leitrim Middle who married Joseph O Brien from Tipperary at Moyvane Church on 30th December 2012. Fr McBride assisted by Fr Lucid officiated at the ceremony. Best men were Michael and Eamon O Brien. Bridesmaids, Karen Farrell and Anna O Shaughnessy. The bride is daughter of Timmy and Anna Maria Kennelly. The grooms parents are Gerald and Peggy O Brien of  Millbrook House, Annacarty.

HAPPY Retirement to Patrick and Joan Lynch of Tarbert, their business goes back to 1946, it is sad to see all the traditional family run operations being closed, considering the great sacrifices made by the proprietors and their families to keep things going over generations. All recent governments had a in breaking the spirit of the one man band.

FLU Vaccine is again being promoted, no doubt commercial companies are pressing their wares, some claim, vaccines are suspected of damaging brain function.

PARKINSON’S ASSOC. NORTH KERRY BRANCH Will host an information evening in the Three Mermaids, Listowel on Tuesday 15th Jan 2013, starting at 8pm. with guest speaker Dr. Helena Moore, Consultant Neurologist. Patients, Carers and Friends welcome. The format of the evening will include a question and answer session.

HORSE Fair in Listowel attracted the usual crowd both young and old, the day was mild and warm, it was more of a social event, as sales were slow.

NEW Moon on the 11th January, daffodils are emerging, land is still swimming.

DEATH has taken place of Peggy Mahony of Meen Listowel.
Her Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Listowel on Saturday December 29th 2013. Burial afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel.

DEATH: Hannah Wetherall nee McCarthy, Vancouver and late of Grogreen.

DEATH took place on 22nd December 2012 of Tom Walsh of Leitrim Middle, Moyvane and England, son of Michael Walsh and Kathleen Kennelly. His siblings included Michael Joe, Eddie, Kitty, Liz, Josephine and Bernie.
