BUDGET is being rushed to help halt the tide of downward trends, I notice that Dubai can boast that another multinational is to set up in their Airport Free Zone, now that most industries in the West of our Country are gone, could a free zone of some sort help us.
HURRICANE Gustav did not do what the media predicted, but who are reminding us that 3 million had to leave their homes in India due to flooding.

CONVERT: I went to hear Mr. Moody with no other idea than to have something to laugh at. I knew he was no scholar, and I felt sure I could find many flaws in his argument. But I found I could not get at the man. He stood there hiding behind the Bible and just fired one Bible text after another at me till they went home to my heart straight as bullets from a rifle. I tell you, Moody’s power is in the way he has his Bible at the tip of his tongue;
Atheism: My own limited experience indicates that atheism — especially in its more passionate strain — always has its causes. All the convinced atheists I know do not merely disbelieve in God; they hate Him. He becomes for them an object not of simple indifference, but of the most visceral animosity . . . [which is] always motivated by one of two things: a deep injustice suffered, for which they blame God and cannot forgive Him; or a deep injustice they have committed, for which they cannot forgive themselves, Fr. Thomas Williams
KERRYMAN of September 5th 1908 snippets; Locals who were successful in the entrance examination scholarship for St Brendan=E2=80=99s Seminary in Killarney include; First Timothy Buckley of Tarmons N.S., three from Duagh N.S. got scholarships, P McMahon, John Lyons and Mortimer Daly; Hints around the home on how to sweep an invalids room and how water made healthy skin; John Hannon had monumental business, funeral undertaking and building supplies; Listowel Board of Guardians meeting dealt with Dr Dillon going on leave, his proposed substitute was Dr O Connor, it was mentioned that while Dr Dillon was on sick leave he attended private patients. Dr J Costelloe of Ballybunion applied for his annual leave and recommended Dr Pierse to take his place, but the Guardians gave the job to Dr O Connor. Job of Wardmastership for the Idiots with a salary of =C2£12 was applied for by three men but one of the Guardians tried to add Jerry Mulvihill to the list. Outbreak of enteritis fever in Tarbert the water supply there was unsatisfactory. The Guardians were dragging their feet in operating the Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops order 1908, it appears that the government introduced the order under pressure from Mr Redmond and the Irish Party to help combat consumption. The Guardians were to visit Ennismore to see the construction of cottages with concrete blocks, concrete block house could be run up in three weeks to a month while the stone building would take 8 to 18 months to build, there was also a saving of over =C2£30 in the block built houses; Former estate agents were complaining that only four of them got work in the Land Commission and Congested Districts Bord, under the sale of estates under the Land Act 1903, the clerks were paid by the landlord and received substantial compensation, clerks paid by agents received one sixth of the negotiated fee. Feast of the Exhaultation of the Holy Cross is on Sept. 14th and feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is on the following day the 15th.
