CONGO was the only country where the food situation dropped from “alarming” to “extremely alarming,” a teacher, earns $42 a month, a police officer who earns $50 a month. $60 a month is earned by an administrator at the Education Ministry who pays Rent at $120 a month; pound of beef costs $5. Ten years ago,  poor Congolese could expect to eat one substantial meal a day, now if they eat today, they only have tea tomorrow.
