MOYVANE was the place to be over the October weekend, when the 14th annual village festival took place.
Were delighted with it, Áine Cronin, Secretary of the Moyvane Development Association said. It went very well, we have to say. We were especially delighted with the Boro Buffet which was held in the Marian Hall on Friday night, she said.
Over 150 people attended the banquet, the first time ever the organisers had decided to hold one, and they will definitely be hosting it again in 2005. Everyone was delighted with it they had plenty of food and drink to choose from, she said.
Sunday was one of the biggest days of the weekend with the Vintage Fair at the community centre, and pride of place was given to Waterloo Boy, an antique tractor from 1914, owned by Limerick man Billy Donegan and one of the few remaining of its kinds in the country.
While the tractor afficionados soaked up the 80 or so exhibits the kids bounced to their hearts content on the bouncy castle and in the sumo wrestling suits. They had a whale of a time between all the various colourful activities laid on for them over the weekend, including the arts and crafts workshops that were held in the hall on Saturday.
The teenagers were kept occupied too over the weekend with their mural on the wall of the national school all the members of the Crib, the areas youth centre took part in the hands-on art, producing a fine piece. It turned out really well, Ms Cronin affirmed.
On the whole were very happy with the fourteenth year of it and well definitely be having a fifteenth, she promised. And who knows? Maybe the Sam Maguire will be paying a visit to the kiddies disco in 2005, as it did at this years Moyvane Village Festival.
