Moyvane

Moyvane Notes – 1st December, 2008

Rev. Fr. Michael O’Leary:
Rev. Fr. Michael O’Leary , whose death took place last week was the longest serving Parish Priest Moyvane ever had. He came to Moyvane in September 1980 and retired to Knockmoyle, Tralee in 1998. A native of Killiney in Castlegregory, he was born in June 1919. During his time in Moyvane, he was an active and well-respected member of the community, supporting Moyvane GAA and helping to set up the committee that rebuilt the old Marian Hall. He was supportive of all parish activities and the turnout at his funeral was a testament of the esteem he was held in. His funeral Mass was celebrated by Bishop Bill Murphy, assisted by a large number of priests from the Diocese of Kerry. It was his wish that Moyvane be his final resting place and the people of the parish were happy to welcome him back. Sympathy is extended to his sister, Betty, brother, Sean, nieces & nephews.
