The Moyvane club has had one of busiest and successful weeks ever with three League matches and County singles championships for the seniors and singles championships and boys schools for the juveniles. It was a week to remember for Kevin Stack. On Sunday week he got to the semi-finals of the division two singles championship in Tralee. On the Monday he helped his Division three A team mates to a 7-0 defeat of Listowel at home and on Sunday he was back in Tralee to capture the Division three singles title. Brid Aherne was finalist in the Division three Ladies singles championships and was also on the Division three A team. Congrats Brid and Kevin. Other members of that Division three A team were: Siobhan Hogan, Nora Conyard, Olive Keane, Ml. O’Connor and Pat Higgins.

On Tuesday night, the Division five team secured a 6-1 win over Listowel in Listowel. Team: Carrie Fitzmaurice, Eileen Roche, Andrea Walsh, John McGrath, Gerard Fitzmaurice, Ian Sheehy and Padraig Kearney.

The Division four team also enjoyed a great win of 6-1 over Causeway in Causeway. Team: Jackie Normile, Michelle Lynch, Kay Higgins, Siobhan O’Leary, Chris Normile, Donnacha Moloney, Liam O’Connor, and John M. Walsh.

At the Juvenile singles championships, Myles Kearney under 13 and Marguerite Lynch under 17 were finalists in their age groups.

The Kerry schools boys badminton under 16 winners were Tarbert Comprehensive and Glen Fitzmaurice and Brian Kiely. Moyvane were on the team which was won by St. Michael’s, Listowel and this was an all Moyvane team. Brian Keane, Kieran Kennelly, Liam Kennelly, and Colm O’Callaghan, Brian Stack was on the Tarbert team. Congratulations to all.

Moyvane GAA under 13 were defeated by Beale in the North Kerry championship on Sunday after a great game. Heavy overnight rain made conditions a little slippery but we were treated to a rousing match. Two goals in the final quarter sealed the game for Beale but in fairness Moyvane were unlucky to hit the goal post on two occasions in the second half. Final score Beale 2-5 : Moyvane 0-5.

Moyvane GAA social will be held this Friday night in the Lanterns. Medals to the winning senior and junior teams will be presented on the night.

Under 21: Moyvane’s game with Beale on Sunday was cancelled because of weather conditions. Details of re-fixture later.

Juniors: Moyvane will play Ballyduff at Mountcoal this Sunday morning at 12 noon in the North Kerry championship.
