At this time of the year, one looks back on the different events and happenings of the year 2003. The double had not been achieved since the great Moyvane team of the early 1960’s.

The Moyvane GAA have been busy with reconstructing one of the pitches and the construction of a new stand is to be completed this year. Our parish priest of two years, Fr. Michael Fleming was transferred to Killorglin and was replaced by John Lucid of Castleisland.

In Comhaltas, sisters Tara and Selina Mulvihill performed well in various competitions throughout the country. The Development association has been active during the past year with the ongoing improvements around the village.

In athletics Tara Finucane won an All Ireland gold medal with the local relay team and also qualified for the national finals in Mosney sprints.

The death has taken place of Sister Declan Buckley, Knockane, Killarney. She was 92 years and was buried in Killarney.

The Munster semi finals for Scor takes place on Sunday, January 8 in Watergrasshill, Co. Cork at 3pm. Our own Selina Mulvihill will be performing in the semi finals. The Munster final of Scor will be held in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on Sunday, February, 1.

Eddie Bowler has been selected as the Man of the Match for the 2003 North Kerry championship. This was announced at a recent function held in the Listowel Arms Hotel. There were many contenders for this prestigious prize but in the end the judges went for Eddie and a worthy winner he was. Well done to the eight lads Pascal Sweeney, Denis Kennelly, John Mulvihill, Tom Sheehy, Donal Kearney, Jackie Mulvihill, Cathal O’Connor and Eddie Bowler on being selected on the North Kerry team of the championship. A presentation was also made to D. J. Mulvihill as team trainer and Thomas Keane as team manager.
