Moyvane played a very exciting draw with Ballylongford in the quarter final of the North Kerry Championship on Sunday last. Moyvane had all the chances in the first half aided by a stiff wind and made good use of them. Eddie Bowler got us off the mark in the first minutes and with D. J. Mulvihill, Mike Mulvihill and Maurice Kearney adding points, we were going well. Ballylongford got into their stride and picked off a nice few scores. Just on the stroke of half-time, Brian Lenihan cut through for a great point to leave the score at the break 0-8 to 0-3. Ballylongford started well with the wind on their backs and soon had Moyvane on the defensive. They got through for the goal after a mix up in our back line and our backs were really to the wall. With less than five minutes to go Ballylongford were leading by one point when in a great passing move up-field, D. J. Mulvihill landed a brilliant equaliser. Moyvane had chances to grab a winner but in fairness a draw was just about the right result. This was a very good game played in true championship spirit by two fit and well prepared teams. The replay will be on Saturday next in Tarbert. Starting time will be 3.15pm sharp.
Disco – Moyvane Bord na nOg presented the U/14 team with their medals for winning the North Kerry League earlier in the year. it was run in conjunction with a disco in the Community Centre and the highlight was when Noel Kennelly presented the lads with their medals and sports bags.
